c) 8:15

A & B will type (32/6)+(40/5)=40/3 pages in 1 hour.
So time(in hours) to type 110 pages= 110/(40/3) =33/4 =8.25 hrs. or 8 Hr. 15 min.

Que: Choose the correct answer
Code A has to execute 4*n2 + 64 program statements, while Code B has to execute 32*n program statements for a

problem of size n. The time for executing a single program statement is same for all statements. Rajesh was given a

problem with a certain size k and he delivered Code A. What could be the possible value of k?

Option 1 : 1000
Option 2 : 5
Option 3 : 10
Option 4 : 3

Ram always walks down on a moving escalator to save time. He takes 50 steps while he goes down. One day due to power failure of 10 secs(when the escalator comes to a halt) he takes 9 secs more than usual time to get down.Find the visible steps of the escalator!

A woman is walking down a downward-moving escalator and steps down 10steps to reach the bottom. Just as she reaches the bottom of the escalator, a sale commences on the floor above. She runs back up the downward moving escalator at a speed five times that which she walked down. She covers 25 steps in reaching the top. How many steps are visible on the escalator when it is switched off?

Let s be the number of steps on the escalator.
Let a be the speed of escalator and b speed of woman.

The time while the woman moves down 10 steps equals the time that the
escalator moves s-10 steps.
(s-10)/a = 10/b ----(1)

Also the time that woman moves 25 steps equals the time that the escalator moves (25-s) steps.
(25-s)/a = 25/5b ----(2)

(1)/(2) gives
(s-10)/(25-s) = 2
Solving s = 20 steps

trains a and b are travelling on the same route..heading towards the same direction.train b has already covered a distance of 220 kmbefore the train a started.the two trains met each other after 11 houra after the starting of train a. had the train travelling towards each other from a distance of 220 km then they would have met after 1 hour.now what is the speed of train a and b?

i cannt find the answer. in first sentence they have given that two trains are in same route and one heading another. if two trains are in same route the how come we add the speed
tell me this i cannot understand this sum.

Let the speed of a and b be β€˜a’ and β€˜b’
In 1st case a and b are travelling in same direction. So relative speed is (a-b)
Distance travelled by a before meeting = speed*time
=11a
Distance travelled by b before meeting = speed*time
= 220+11*b
11a = 220+11b
a = 20+b
a-b = 20 ---(1)
In 2nd case and b are travelling in opposite directions towards each other. So relative speed is (a+b).
Speed = (a+b)
Distance = 220
Time = 1hr
Distance = speed*time
220 = (a+b)*1
a+b = 220 ---(2)
solving eqn (1) and (2)
a = 120km/hr
b= 100km/hr

A says B>D
B says A>C
C says C>D
D says C>B

Since the person with lightest weight tells the truth
C lies (If C tells the truth, then C is not the lightest and then C lies)
===> D>C is the true statement.
So D is also not the lightest person and D lies.
B>C
So from A and B only one is telling the truth and that is not B because
B>C, so B is not the lightest

A is the lightest

C says C>D
if C is telling the truth,implies C>D is true
so C is not the lightest.
And only the lightest person tells the truth.So C lies

SHEREENA NISHAD   8 years ago
total number of trees = No. of trees in a row x No. of rows
Since no. of trees and No. of rows are equal
x^2 = 7225
x=85

Let the total distance be x
so the speed of 1st train is x/4 and 2nd train x/3.5
In 2 hours 1st train covers half of the total distance .
so remaining is only half of the total distance(ie x/2).
let t be the time taken
t*x/4 + t*x/3.5 = x/2
t=14/15 i.e. 56 min

hi @ann
u solved this above question...ok fine
i want to know how t*x/4 + t*x/3.5 = x/2 is possible..?according to u d1+d2=d/2 how come plz let me know..thanks

Ann Theressa   8 years ago
Both the trains have to cover a total distance of x/2(the other half is covered by 1st train alone)
Let t be the time taken by both trains before meeting

we know
distance = speed*time
x/2 = x/4*t + x/3.5*t
Solving t = 56min
