in bankofficer selection exam 70% of successful students qualified in efficiency test and 65% in interview. if 27% were unsucessful in both exams, then how many students were sucessful in written exam

Use Venn Diagram to solve this question.
If 27% were unsuccessful in both the exams this means 73% were successful.
then let x% be successful in both the exams
equation can be:
70 - x + x + 65 - x = 73
solving it we get , x = 62
thus 62% qualify both exams
so 70 - 62 = 8% students qualified only written exam and not interview.

2 pipes can fill tank in 6 and 8 minutes. if those 2 taps are opened one by one for one minute each then how long it will tank for tank to fillup
Reply Like? Yes (1) | No
Devendra Marghade   9 years ago
6 min. 45 sec.

In 2 min. tank will be filled (1/6)+(1/8)=7/24
So upto 6 min. filling =3*7/24=21/24=7/8, remaining=1/8
Again first pipe will fill remaining in (1/8)/(1/6)=3/4 min=45 sec.
So total time taken=6 min. & 45 sec.

a and b can complete job in 16 days, while b and c can finish job in 24 days.if a is thrice as efficientas c, in how many days will all wor together to complete job

Devendra Marghade   9 years ago
13 5/7 days

If 1 day job of a,b & c is A,B & C respectively, then
A+B=1/16 ---(i) & B+C=1/24 ---(ii) , substituting A=3C in (i) & solving we get A=1/32, B=1/32, C=1/96
So together A+B+C will complete the job in 1/[(1/32)+(1/32)+(1/96)]=96/7= 13 5/7 days

in shop shirts are usually sold at 40% above cost price. during a sale the shopkeeper offers a discount of 10% on usual selling price. if he manages to sell 72 shirts for rs 13608. then costprice per shirt

150 Rs.

If cost price=x, then x*(140/100)*(90/100)*72=13608, x=13608/(1.4*0.9*72)=150

a cricket team won 3 matches more than they lost. if a win give 2 points and lose give -1 point how many matches will they have played if score is 23 how to solve this problem
Reply Like? Yes (2) | No
Neha Shahi   10 years ago
let the no of matches lost be y.....so the no of matches won = y + 3
now, 2( y + 3) + (-1) y = 23
y = 23 - 6 =17
