is kept open for half the time and both pipes are kept open for the remaining time.
In how many hours, will the tank be completely full?

Let the total time taken be 'x' hrs.
Then, for x/2 hrs pipe B fills at 1/20 per hr and for remaining x/2 hrs both pipes A & B fills at (1/30 + 1/20) per hr.
(x/2)*(1/20) + (x/2)*(1/30 + 1/20) = 1
(x/2)*(8/60) = 1
=> x=15

Let C takes 'x' days, then A takes 3x days and B takes 3x/2.
1 day work of A , B & C = 1/3x + 1/(3x/2)+ 1/x = 1/2
=> x=4
Therefore, A takes 12 days and B takes 6 days to do the work alone.

f=40+2n

now s+n+f=1240

n/3+n+2n+40 = 1240

sons's age=x/3
father's age=40+2x

adding the ages;
x+x/3+40+2x=1240

10/3x=(1240-40)
10/3x=1200

10x=1200*3

10x=3600
x=36
so Nepo is 36 years
son is 36/3 years=12 years

father is 40+2(36) years=112 years
