I am assuming that by couples you meant pairs

No. of ways of selecting 1st pair = 44C2

No. of ways of selecting 2nd pair = 42C2

∴ No. of ways of selecting 22 pairs =44C2⋅42C2⋅40C2…2C2

=44⋅432⋅42⋅412…2⋅12

But the above also takes into account the order in which pairs are choosen which we do not want.

∴ we need to divide the above by 22! to take care of the permution.
