ans: 2+2/9
Reply Like? Yes | No
Tushar belwal   8 years ago
If u add water then amount of milk remains same i.e
Initial amount of Milk = 95% × 40 = 38
Final amount of milk = 90% × (x) =38
=> x=42+2/9
Amount of water added = 42+2/9 -40 = 2+2/9

66.66%
If CP=x, SP or list price=y
Given, 0.75y=1.25x, So when sold at its list price=y, Profit=1.25x * y/0.75y=5x/3=1.6666x
So profit=66.66%

A GRAIN MERCHANT PURCHASES 2 VARIETIES OF RICE. THE PRICE OF THE FIRST KIND BEING TWICE THAT OF THE SECOND. HE SELLS THE MIXTURE FOR RS. 28 PER KG MAKING A PROFIT OF 25 % .IF THE RATIO OF THE FIRST TO SECOND IS 2:3 IN THE MIXTURE , THEN VARIETY COSTED IS? WITH EXPLANATION.

32 & 16 Rs/Kg.
If two quantities are 2x & 3x and Prices be 2y & y respectively, then
Cost Price= (2x*2y) + (3x*y)= 7xy
Selling Price@ 28/Kg =28*5x= 140x
Given, Selling Price= 125% of Cost price or 140x= (125/100)*(7xy), y=16
So the cost of varities are 2y & y =32 & 16 Rs. respectively

BY SELLING 12 KG OF ONIONS FOR RS.63 , I GAIN 5 %. WHAT DO I GAIN OR LOSE PERCENT BY SELLING 50 KG OF THE SAME ONIONS FOR RS. 247.50P ? WITH EXPLANATION
Reply Like? Yes | No
Devendra Marghade   10 years ago
1% loss
SP of 1 Kg. =63/12, As 5% gain is made, so Actual cost or CP of 1 Kg=(63/12)*(100/105)=5
Per Kg. price when 50 Kg. is sold for Rs. 247.5= 247.5/50= 4.95
So % loss= (5- 4.95)*100/5 =1

let selling price of 66 meters cloth is x.
so,1 meter cloth price is x/66.
then,22 meter cloth price are (x/66)*22=x/3.
and let cost price of 66 meters cloth is y.
gain =sp-cp=x-y.
x/3=x-y
so,y=x-x/3=2x/3.
now,gain%=(100*gain)/cp=(100*x/3)/2x/3
so,gain %=(100x/3)*3/2x=50% is answer.

Q: The number of students in each section of a school is 24. After admitting new students three new sections were started. Now the total number of sections is 16 and there are 21 students in each section. The number of new students admitted is? I NEED COMPLETE SOLUTION PLS HELP ME
Reply Like? Yes (26) | No (7)
Nithiya   10 years ago
before joining the new stds, total no of section would be 13
total no.of stds is 13*21=312
after admitting few std, total no of section is 16
now the total would be 16*21=436
so,no of new comers is 436-312=124

Anish.    10 years ago
Per section before joining= 24
No. Of sections before joining = 13
Then total no. Of students before joining = 24*13=312
No. Of sections added after joining = 13+3=16
No. Of students per section after joining = 21
Then total no. Of students after joining= 16 * 21=336
So, total no. Of students joined = 336-312=24

This question can be solved with the help of alligation.
Some part is sold at a loss of 5% hence it is written as -5%.
In other their is neither loss nor profit hence other is 0.
Now he has an overall loss of 3% hence resultant is -3%.
-5 0
/
-3
/
(0 - (-3)) (-3 - (-5))

So ratio of selling is 3:2.
Part he sold at cost price is 2_ * 40 = 16 KG

ie 3/100=(40*CP-(x*CP+(40-x)0.95*CP))/40*CP
x=16
