dear admin,
according to your last ques we had to find the total numbers which can be formed from any 6 digits without repetition. it wasn't mentioned anywhere that the no should be a 6 digit no.
so it can be a 6 digit or 5 digit or 4 or 3 or 2...or 1 digit no.
there could be many nos with any 6 digits.
(9*8*7*6*5*4)+(9*8*7*6*5)+(9*8*7*6)+(9*8*7)+(9*8)+(9)
according to the ques ans should be none of these.
please check and clarify my doubt.

I believe the question itself was incomplete. People those who have considered positive integer values of a,b & c would arrive at a=1 as answer whereas considering negative integers as well the answer would be undefined. I still don't agree that there is a logic where answer could be a=3

It was not mentioned that a,b,c all are positive integers.
when b+c >6 , it can have any value.

so minimum value of a can be -ve also.

so none of given option was correct .

people are asking the same questions again and again which are already solved in the placement puzzle section of tcs.
kindly ask them to refer the solved one. because asking the same ques daily and solving them again won't help us and improve our ability.

Regarding Yesterday's questions:
"a+b+c>9 and b+c>6 then least possible value of a for any value of b and c is"

Its clearly mentioned in the question that we need to find least value of a "for any value of b+c" and not "least sum of b and c".

b+c = 9, and a =1 satisfies following two conditions:
a+b+c>9
b+c>6

Which means a =1 is the least value of a and that should be the answer.

Yesterday qn was

A man paid a certain amount to buy 24 dozens banana. If the rate of banana would be 4 rupee more for each dozen, then he bought as many dozens as was the previous rate. Total investment of the man was .......

In this case accepted answer is Rs 20 which is absolutely wrong. As per statement, total investment of man is required and not the initial rate.
i knew that such confusion will come again, I did not try for the qn.

I have full sympathy with friends who gave correct answer as per qn but suffered loss of points as usual.

There is an humble request to the MODs ,lots of questions are having more than one (and wrong!) solutions so kindly remove the wrong ones or just tag the right ones with some tag like "correct answer" or something like that ,because the current situation puts the users into confusion...best regards

Hi Admin,

I have a suggestion related with Daily Puzzle scoring. Currently on changing the score and answering the right answer on 2nd attempt user is alloted with 14 marks irrespective of the time taken by him or her to answer. I believe this is not correct. If a user changes his option within 11:10 he should be alloted marks based on timing of final correct attempt - 1 marks for changing his options.

Such cases are possible in m4maths only.
For yesterday puzzle of integral sides of triangle,
I was also getting answer as 1 .. Option 9 but I did not give the reply due to earlier experience.

I have sympathy with friends who have given correct answer but are being penalised .

For puzzle dtd 19/7/11

Two sides of a triangle are 2 and 1. How many integral possibilities are there for the third side.

Only 1 integral solution is possible with sides 1,2,2.
Given logic is
since sum of two sides should be greater than the third side so third side will be either 1 or 2
so two possibilities are there.

In this case, Ist part is correct but applying that logic to sides 1,1,2.... no triangle with sides 1,1,2 is possible.

If u hypothetically consider it as triangle with base 2 and sides 1 and 1 with zero height, then triangle with sides 1,2,3 is also possible.

For a normal maths student, only one solution is possible with sides 1,2,2.
