Q. If (x-2)(x-4)(x-6)(x-10)=(x-1)(x-5)(x-7)(x-9) then x is
we can write it as-
(x-2)(x-4)/(x-1)(x-5)=(x-7)(x-9)/(x-6)(x-10)

subtract 1 from both sides
we get-
1/(x-1)(x-5)=1/(x-6)(x-10)
=> x^2-6x+5=x^2-16x+60
=> 10x=55
=> x=11/2 ans:3)

@ Admin,

Observation made by Rajan is right.
Answer of puzzle is correct but solution given is wrong.

I think this is the correct solution

Sum of numbers divisible by 5
= 5 + 10 + 15 + ... + 1000
= 100500

Sum of numbers divisible by 2
= 2 + 4 + 6 + ... + 1000
= 250500

Sum of numbers divisible by 10
= 10 + 20 + 30 + ... + 1000
= 50500

Sum of all numbers from 1 to 1000
= 1 + 2 + 3 + ... + 1000
= 500500

Sum of numbers divisible by 5 or 2
= 100500 + 250500 - 50500 = 300500

Sum of numbers divisible by neither 5 nor 2
= 500500 - 300500 = 200000

solution of ur prblm govind is as follows for finding def/abc u first have to find the ratio of d/a,e/b and f/c seperately using given ratio. as for d/a you can go with first 3 given ratio by that u'll get d/a as 1/5.similarly for e/b use 2nd,3rd and 4th given ratio,by doing that u'll get e/b as 3/40.similarly u can find out value of f/c as 3/2 so u'll get the required ratio as 9/400.

Dear vishal the ans of your question is as follows....
we will try to solve it by trail and error method
let us divide 80 into 4 parts ( A,B,C,D)
ACCORDING TO CONDITN..
A+3=X...1
B-3=X...2
C*3=X...3
D/3=X...4
AS all give the same values...I:E assume X
given the smallest value is 5
so jst assume 5 in place of A the value of X will be 8
and if u substitute this value of X=8 in all the 4 equations..
thn value of B=11
value of C=8/3
which is a fractional value..so the trial and error method for A gets wrong...
try the same for sustractn i:e B the ans will again be in fractn
the correct ans will come in c
A+3=X.....1
B-3=X.....2
C*3=X.....3
D/3=X.....4
taking C=5
x will become 15
so for eqtn. 1 X=15 therefore A=12
so for eqtn. 2 X=15 therefore B=18
and for eqtn. 4 X=15 therefore D=45
adding values of A=12 B=18 C=5 and D=45
we get 80 as the answer...
therefore the largest no is 45 ....and samllest no is 5
