To do a piece of work,B takes 3 times as long as A and C together, and C takes twice as long as A and B together .If the three together can complete the work in 10 days , how long would A take by himself ? with explanation

Let the time to complete the job by A,B and C is a,b and c each respectively.
Given, b=3*{ac/(a+c)}
and c=2*{ab/(a+b)}
eliminating c, we have 5a=3b.
c=4/5a.
also 1/a + 1/b + 1/c= 1/10.
1/a + 3/5a + 4/5a= 1/10.
Hence, a= 24 days.

22.5 days

A=B/3 and B-A=60 , So A=30, B=90
Together A & B will complete the job in 1 /[(1/30) + (1/90)]=90/4 =22.5 days

7M+11W+5B=78.
W=3B.
W=M+B.
Therefore, 7M+(33/2)M+(5/2)M=78
Hence, M=3.

assume 100 units of work, so together they work @ 10 units/day
let A, B, C work @ a,b,c units /day
(a+c) = 3b ....... (i)
(a+b) = 2c ....... (ii)
a+b+c = 10 ..... (iii)

solving the system , we get
a = 25/6, b = 5/2, c = 10/3
----------------------------------------
A will take 100/(25/6) = 24 days
B will take 100/(5/2) = 40 days
C will take 100/(10/3) = 30 days

according to question,
1 day work of A,B & C=
A+B+C= 1/10 -(i)
A+C=3B -(ii)
A+B=2C -(iii)
on solving equation (i)&(ii),
we get B=40 days
on solving equation (i)&(iii),
we get C= 30 days
put the value of B & C one day work in equation (i),
A=1/10-1/40-1/30=(12-3-4)/120=5/120=1/24 part of work in one day,
so, to complete the work required day for A = 24 days.

B:A+C = 1:3 and C: A:+B = 1:2 that is the efficiency ratio which is inverse of time time taken.
B:A+C can also be written as B/A+C = 1/3
similarly C/A+B =1/2
now adding 1 both sides in both the equations we get
1+B/A+C =1/3 +1 or A+B+C/A+C=4/3 ------1

similarly 1+C/A+B =1/2 +1 or A+B+C/A+B=3/2 ---------2
multiply equation first with 3 and equation 2 with 4 we get
A+B+C=12 & A+C =9
A+B+C=12& A+B=8
means together they are making 12 unit per day and in 10 days they will make 120 units from above we can find B=3 and C=4 and A=5 together they are making 12 units per day
so time taken by A = 120/5 =24 days

21 Rs.

If each man, woman & boy has m, w & b Rs. respectively, then
7m+ 11w + 5b= 78 -----(i)
Given, w=3b & w=m+b
Substituting, w=3b in (i), 7m+38b= 78 ----(ii) &
w=m+b in (i), 18m+16b =78 ----(iii)
On solving, (i), (ii) & (iii), m=3, w=4.5, b=1.5
So Total share of a men=7*3= 21 Rs.
