A bag contains 6 balls of one or more colours. A ball is picked and is found to be red. What is the probability that the bag initially had exactly 6 red balls?
a)2/7 b)1/5 c)3/5 d)4/5
what is the answer of this question
Reply Like? Yes (3) | No
Suresh Verma   12 years ago
its simple.consider all the possible cases
there are 6 cases of having red balls
P(only 1 is red and it is selected out of 6 balls)=1/6
P(2 balls are red and 1 is selected of them)=2/6
similarly remaining probabilities are 3/6,4/6,5/6,6/6
now the required question asks us to compare the event of all 6 being red with all the possible eventsa
Probability=(6/6)/((1/6)+(2/6)+(3/6)+(4/6)+(5/6)+(6/6))
=6/(6*7/2)
=2/7

For TCS
Tcs pattern has been totally changed. Now there are 30 questions for 80 minutes and 10 minutes for verbal section. And there is no use of reading previous year papers and all the stuff. There is no link between the previous papers and the new pattern of tcs. New pattern is very difficult from the previous one.
New pattern contains the questions mostly from probability (very difficult)and from series type questions (very long series) and rest from any given diagram and have to calculate the area of some part of it(the most difficult one).

Ya its true that tcs pattern has been changed. there is no link between tcs previous year pattern and new questions. Mostly questions from probability and some very long series question and some on that some figure is given and we have to calculate area of some part.
So the new pattern is very difficult form previous one.

Option a) 4
three std weights of 2 kg each and one std wt. of 5 kg

We just need to factorize the magnitude of the highest weight, i.e., 40.

40 = 2x2x2x5

to weigh 1kg → 2x2 kg in one pan and 5 on the other

to weigh 3 kgs → 2 kg in one pan and 5 kg on the other, and so on.

firstly give 1 pencil each to the 4, now we can distriobute the remaining 6 pencils any way we like.
using the "stars and bars" formula, (6+4-1)C(4-1)
= 9C3 = 84 [ c ]

N=10 ,r=4 intrude the logic 10C4 tat is n!/(n-r)!*r! So the calc part is
10!/(10-4)!*4! =120. Rock on;)

Let take 4students be A,B,C,D
Distribute 4 pencils to 4students remaining 6pencils so,we use the nCr formula,
(i.e)(n+r-1)C(r-1)
n=6,r=4
(6+4-1)C(4-1)
9C3=84
so,option c is correct
