Condition should be.... Sum of two dice is divisible by 4 or 6.
Possible sums are 4,6,8,12.
Possible combinations to meet given conditions = 14
So probability =14/36= 7/18

In how many ways one or more than one fruit, can be selected from 6 varieties of fruits given that there are 5 fruits of each variety?
Reply Like? Yes | No
Varun   5 years ago
(1) Lets just first select from 1 variety,
In 5 ways one or more of same variety can be picked {1,2,3,4,5}
We have 6 such varieties

(2) Now lets go to second variety,
Additionally,
Picking from second variety can be done in 6 ways including picking zero {0,1,2,3,4,5,6}
And we have 5 such extra varieties
= 5*6*6*5 = 900

Two articles A and B, with the same marked price were sold at 15% and 12% discounts respectively. Percentage of the profit earned on articles A and B was 6.25% and 20% respectively. The cost price of article B was Rs.160 less than the cost price of article A. Find the marked price of the each article.
Reply Like? Yes | No
Devendra Marghade   5 years ago
Let the CP of A=x+160 and B=x. Marked Price of A and B=P.
Then, SP of A = P*85/100 = (106.25/100)* (x+160) ---> 17P = (x+160)*21.25 ---(i)
SP of B = P*88/100 = (120/100)*x ---> 11P = 15x ---(ii)
Solving (i) & (ii), we get Marked Price = P=2400 and CP of B=x=1760, CP of A=(x+160)=1920

Hi, looking for feedback regarding the following question:
There are 500 candies. If 350 have sprinkles and 300 have chocolate chips, and at least 60 have neither sprinkles nor chocolate chips, the number of candies that have both is in this range:
a)40 and 120
b)80 and 180
c)180 and 320
d)210 and 300
e)300 and 350
This question is from this site and I've also placed my reasoning/solution for it.
Any help will be most appreciated.

G.S.Kantharao   5 years ago
It is 210 and 300
Total candies 500
Out of these candies with both maximum is 300. Since chocklet chips is subset to sprinkles.
60 is neither of them. So either of them are 500-60=440
Now minimum =350+300-440=210
So it will be 210 and 300

How many Kg ot wheat @ Rs. 14 per kg should be mixed with 32 kg of wheat @ Rs
22 per kg so that there is a profit of 25% by selling the mixture @ Rs 23.90 per kg
Reply Like? Yes | No (1)
Devendra Marghade   5 years ago
Ans: 18 kg

Let x kg of wheat costing Rs. 14/kg is mixed, then (x*14 + 32*22)/(x+32) = 23.9*(100/125)
(14x + 704) / (x+32) = 19.12
14x + 704 = 19.12x + 611.84
5.12x = 92.16
x = 18

Gold is 19 times as heavy as water and copper is 9 times as heavy as water. In
what ratio should these be mixed to get an alloy 15 times as heavy as water.
Reply Like? Yes (1) | No

Required ratio = (15-9)/(19-15) = 6/4 = 3/2
Therefore, these should be mixed in the ratio 3:2.

Let the number of students be 'x' then x-1=6y and x-2=7z

Which is true for y=6, z=5
So, minimum number of students=6y+1 or 7z+2 = 37

If two numbers are divided by a dividor produce remaindes 3 and 4, but then the sum of the numbers is divided by that divisor gives remainder 2. Find the divisor.
Reply Like? Yes (1) | No
Devendra Marghade   5 years ago
Ans=5

Let the divisor be a, first no. be x and second no. be y, then in given 3 conditions
X = ak + 3 —(i)
y = al + 4 —(ii)
x+y = am + 2 —(iii)
Adding (i) & (iii), and Substituting x+y in (iii), we get (ak+3) + (al+4) = am+2
a(m-k-l) = 5
Prime factorization gives a=5 or 1
As divisor cannot be 1 in above given conditions, so divisor a=5.
