If series is 64,24,18,27,81, then next number can be 81*3/0.5= 81*6= 486
64*3/8=24
24*3/4= 18
18*3/2=27
27*3/1=81
next 81*3/0.5= 81*6= 486

4 men and 3 women finish a job in 6 days and 5 men 7 women can do the same job in 4 days how long will one man and one woman take to do the work

Devendra Marghade   6 years ago
Total work = (4M+3W)*6 = (5M+7W)*4
4M=10W or M=(5/2)W
Total work expressed in terms of W = [4*(5/2)W + 3W]*6 = 78W
Now 1 day work of 1 man & 1 woman = (5/2)W + W = (7/2)W
Therefore, days required = 78/(7/2) = 22 2/7

Cost of first 100 calls=0.3*100=Rs 30
In remaining Rs 20, calls can be made 25 paise/call=20/0.25=80
Therefore, total calls=100+80=180

Two workers undertake to do a job. The second worker started working two hour after the first. Five hours after the Second worker has begun working, there is still 9/20 of the work to be done. When the assignment is completed, it turns out that first worker has done 60% of the work while second worker has done rest of the work. How many hours would it take each one to do the whole job individually?
Reply Like? Yes | No
Devendra Marghade   6 years ago
Ans: 20 hrs, 25 hrs

Working alone, let 1st worker can do a job in 'A' hrs and 2nd worker in 'B' hrs, then
1st working for 7 hrs and 2nd for 5 hrs, completes 11/20 of the work.
=> 7/A + 5/B = 11/20 ---(i)
Let the work gets completed in 'x' hrs and 1st worker does 60% work => x/A=60/100 or 1/A=3/5x ---(ii)
2nd worker does 40% work in (x-2) hrs => (x-2)/B=40/100 or 1/B=2/[5(x-2)] ---(iii)
Now substituting value of 1/A & 1/B in eqn (i), we get 7*(3/5x) + 5*2/[5(x-2)] = 11/20
21/x + 10/(x-2) = 11/4
[21(x-2) + 10x]*4 = (x² - 2x)*11
124x - 168 = 11x² - 22x
11x² - 146x + 168 = 0
11x² - 132x - 14x + 168 = 0
(11x-14) (x-12) = 0
x = 14/11, 12, considering whole number x=12
Now substituting value x=12 in eqn (ii) & (iii), we get A=20, B=25
Therefore, 1st worker takes 20 hrs and 2nd worker takes 25 hrs, to do the job individually.

For better result, he can use last 12 minutes as 4 ( think) + 8 ( typing).

Dolly    6 years ago
Please refer 'Today's puzzle'dated 11.03.2019.
I think option 175 is not correct.
He can divide every 12 minutes of his working in two parts
4 minutes for thinking and 8 minutes for typing.
Hence total 46 lines are typed in 12 minutes.
Then he takes rest for 6 minutes.
Hence in 18 minutes, he thinks and types 46 lines.
In 72 minutes , he will type 46*4=184 lines.

If this is puzzle site, think logical also.
If one has to calculate simply like 5th standard student, then it's your choice.
Do not make it 'M for murder of maths'.

Let 'x' kg of wheat costing Rs. 4.5/kg is mixed with 'y' kg costing Rs. 5.25/kg, then
Average price per kg = (4.5x + 5.25y) / (x+y) = 5
5x+5y = 4.5x+5.25y
0.5x = 0.25y
x/y = 1/2

P can complete a piece of work in 20 days and Q in 30 days. P worked alone for 4 days and then Q completed the remaining work along with R in 18 days. In how many days can R working alone complete the work?
Reply Like? Yes | No

>total units of work 60(lcm of 20and 30)
>P will complete 3units/day (60/20)
>Q will complete 2units/day (60/30)
>In four days P will complete (4*3=12units of work out of 60 total units)
>Of the remaining 48 units of work (60-12) Q works for 18 days to complete (2*18=36units of work)
>Therefore units remaining for R to complete in 18 days is 12)
> So R will take 90 days to finish all the 60 units of the work >> (60*(18/12))

concept: Man*Day*Hour/Work = constant.
here, M=256, D= (1/5*15)=3, W= (1/6*189)= 31.5; m= m, d= 15-3= 12, w= 189-31.5= 157.5
(256*3)/31.5 = (m*12)/157.5
m = 320
More Men reqired = 320-256= 64
