22 days

* I think the send sentence in question should be" A alone works it for 5 days and b completes it alone in next 16 days"
(1/A) + (1/B)= 1/10 or AB=10A+10B ---(i) &
[1- (5/A)]/(1/B)=16 or AB=16A+5B ---(ii)
From (i) & (ii), A=5B/6 and substituting this value of A in eqn. (1/A) + (1/B)= 1/10, we have
6/(5B)+(1/B)=1/10, So B=22 and A=55/3

Two trains, T1 and T2, simultaneously pass through a station on two parallel tracks without stopping at the station. The platform P2 passed by the train T2 is 50% more in length than the platform P1 passed by train T1. The train T1 runs at a speed of 72 kmph, while the other train is 25% slower and 50% longer. What is the ratio of the times taken by the trains T1 and T2 in passing the platforms P1 and P2 respectively?

a) 4/3
b)3/2
c) 1/2
d) cnd

c) 1/2

If length of Platform P1=x and train T1=y, given its speed=72 kmph,
So time taken to pass platform P1=(x+y)/72 ----(i)
Length of Platform P2=1.5x and train T2=1.5y, given it is 25% slower than T1,so speed=72*0.75=54 kmph
So time taken to pass platform P2=(1.5x+1.5y)/54 ----(ii)
Ratio of time taken to pass platform P1 and P2= (i)/(ii)=[(x+y)/72]/[(1.5x+1.5y)/54]=1/2

Like? Yes (3) | No (1)

Onlinepsa.in   10 years ago
There are 50 benches.

600 = (b+10) * r [Where b= benches; r= number of people on every benche]
600 = b * (r+2)

Solving the above two you will get b = 5r. This on substituting in any one of the equation you would get a quadratic equation.
r^2 + 2r -120 = 0

r= 10 is the valid value; also b= 50. Hope you could work this out!

Thanks,

no of benches=n
no of people per bench=x
nx=600
but there are 10 benches less
two more people are asked to seat on each bench
hence(n-10)(x+2)=600
nx=600 -----------1
(n-10)(x+2)=600--------2
after solving 1 and 2
we get x=10, -12
no of persons cannot be negative
so x=10
then we get n as 60
there are 10 benches less
60-10=50
totally 50 benches are there

115 cm^2

Here side of square=Sqrt(49)=7, so radius of each circle=7/2=half of the side of square.
Four touching circles at a corner of squares will have 1/4 area inside & 3/4 area outside of a square.
So Area of four circles outside the square=4*(3/4)*Area of each circle=3*Pi*radius^2
=3*(22/7)*(7/2)^2
=115.5

Sir,
This forum is very good in terms of discussion of questions and answers asked previously in various campus selection procedures. However, it is quite disheartening to notice the variety of answers provided to one particular questions. As we all know, approach to the answer can be many, however, the answer must be singularity. Sir, I hereby request you to scan the answers before putting up.. It removes the ambiguity and will certainly make this forum a better solution provider.

100! + 200!
= 100! ( 1+ 101*102*103*...*200)

=100! * A number ending in one

Thus it is sufficient to find the number of zeroes in 100! which is calculable.
{100/5} + {100/25} + {100/125} + .... [Where {x} denotes greatest integer function of x]
=20+4+0+0+0+...
=24 zeroes.

The timing of puzzle is not right. Because you are telling that each and every one must open the portal on 11.00 a.m. to gain maximum points but I am having problem with this as we have to go to college and I can't open in time. It should be like this whenever I open today's puzzle since then time count should start so that actual evaluation of merit is done.
Hope you will look after this. Thanks in advance.

3^9=will give 9 at last digit +1=10
hence 0 is the last digit.

Masum, 3^9 does not give last digit as 9, but 3. Please check out the pattern.

3^1 ends in 3
3^2 ends in 9
3^3 ends in 7
3^4 ends in 1
3^5 ends in 3
3^6 ends in 9 ...

I hope you understand the pattern of last digit being 3,9,7,1...

Here, 579 when divided by 4 gives 3 as remainder. Thus the last digit will be third in the pattern that is 7.

Final result will be +1 as given in the question. Answer=8.

I hope you understood how it works!

Thanks,

the lady birthday was on leap year,ie on 29feb. till her death, she had put 250*10=2500 on her piggy bank. but her bro bday was on the leap year and he took 50*40=2000 rupees.. and thus the money left was only 500.

Dear Admin Sir,

I didn't answered the question before 11:27 considering that question is wrong and informed you.
So giving 20 to others who attempted a wrong question wouldn't be fair when other people are getting only 15 marks.

Cheers,
