Abhishek starts to paint a fence on one day. On the second day, two more friend of Abhishek joins him. On the third day 3 more friends of him join him and so on. If the fence is completely painted this way in exactly 20 days, then find the number of ways in which 10 girls painting together can paint the fence completely. Given that every girl can paint twice as fast as Abhishek and his friends (Boys)? (Assume that the friends of Abhishek are all boys).

f(2+2)=f(2)+f(2)+7*2*2+4=19+19+28+4=70=f(4)

One day Eesha started 30 min late from home and reached her office 50 min late while driving 25% slower than her usual speed. How much time in min does eesha usually take to reach her office from home?
Reply Like? Yes (1) | No
Abhilash Mishra   12 years ago
60 min or 1 hr.

as,
let her usual speed be 's' and time be 't'.
then, on the day, her speed is = .75*s
and time is = t + (20/60) hr
so,
s*t = .75 s * (t+1/3)
implies t = 1 hr.
Like? Yes | No
sandhya   12 years ago
let her usual speed x and time taken for it is y
now his speed is x-(x/4)=3x/4 and time taken for it is y+20
:. x/(3x/4) = y+20/y
thrfr y =60 min
Like? Yes (1) | No
Rashmi bharti   12 years ago
she usually takes 60 min to reach her office.
In actual Esha reached her office 20 min late due to her slow speed because she already left home 30 min late that day.
50-30=20
let her usual speed is x and her usual time taken to reach office is y.then on that very day her speed reduces by 25% i.e, her speed is 3x/4 and she takes (y+20)min
so, we get y=60 min.
Like? Yes | No
Rohan Goyal   12 years ago
Let y be the distance from home to office
Let x be the usual time taken
Let u be the usual speed
therefore new speed= u-u/4=3u/4
u=y/x.......eq1
new time x'=x+20
so 3u/4=y/x+20.......eq2
Substituting eq1 and 2
3x+60=4x
therefore, x=60 answer

A,B,C,D START AT THE SAME TIME TO RUN AROUND A CIRCULAR GARDEN IN THE SAME DIRECTION. A COMPLETES A ROUND IN 30 MIN, BIN 60 MIN,C IN 90 MIN AND D IN 105 MIN. AFTER WHAT TIME THEY WILL MEET AGAIN AT THE STARTING POINT?
A)15 HRS B) 10 HRS C) 21 HRS D) 20 HRS
Reply Like? Yes (7) | No
rohan chawla   12 years ago
answer is 21 hours

the meeting time is lcm of all the individual times because all the numbers are divisible by the lcm. so at that time all will have completed an integral number of rounds.

so the lcm is 1260 min which is 21 hrs

meerankani   12 years ago
when u subtract 39-40=-1
37-39=-2
33-37=-4
26-33=-7
15-26=-11 so when u add first two number -1-2=-3
-3-4=-7
-4-7=-11
-7-11=-18
the number -18 tells the answer as -3 after 15...because if u put -3 after 15(can be considered as -3-15=-18)...i think u will get this

answer should be -1

the difference between terms are as 1,2,4,7,11
let us name this series as A

the difference between terms of series A is 1,2,3,4,
lets term this series as B
so the next term in series B is 5
which makes next term in series A as 16
which means the next term in original series is 15-16=-1
so the answer is -1

357 is divisible by 17 so that remainder is 5
Like? Yes | No
rohan chawla   12 years ago
let x be the number
as x leaves remainder 5 when divided by 357
so x=357a+5
here a is the qoutient
when number is divided by 17 we get
x/17 = (357a+5)/17 = 21a+5/17
so we see that 5 is the remainder.

Since january has 3 odd days (i.e. 3 days which will occur for 5 times).
Therefore they can be only Mon, Tue, Wed according to question. So 28th jan is Sunday. So 1st jan is Monday.

10%
we can have a total of 5C2 combinations for selecting pairs that could interchange. out of these there is only 1 pair (EE) which even after interchanging would not alter the world. so required probability = 1/5C2 = 1/10 =10%

why not 2*240????? 5*96?
Like? Yes | No (1)
raghuram dharmavarpu   12 years ago
we can solve it in 32 ways
first of all 840 can be written as 840=2^
(3)*3*5*7-(1)
we can written it into XY combination
X=2^(a1)*3^(b1)*5^(c1)*7^(d1)
Y=2^(a2)*3^(b2)*5^(c2)*7^(d2)
XY=2^(a1+a2)*3^(b1+b2)*5^(c1+c2)*7^(d1+d2)
from the above equation (1) we know that
a1+a2=3,b1+b2=1,c1+c2=1,d1+d2=1.
we can get a1+a2 as 3 in (0+3),(3+0),(1+2),(2=1) in 4 ways
similarly b1+b2,c1+c2,d1+d2 in (0+1)&(1+0) in 2 ways
so that 840 can be written in 2 product terms as 4*2*2*2=32
Like? Yes | No
parminder maan   12 years ago
840 have factors 2^3,5,7,3.firstly to make it simple take only one 2.so having 2,3,5,7.so by multipying 2 by 420 we can get 840 similarly 3 with 280,5 with 168 and 7 with 120.now 2 nos can be paired as taking 2 n 3 means 6 multipying with 140.so with these there are 6 ways..similarly taking 3 values from 4 by applying combinations we have 4 ways.now we have rest with 2 twos.simlilarly wid dat we have total of 32
Like? Yes (1) | No
Sandeep R   12 years ago
Prime factorization of 840 is
2*2*2*3*5*7

so it can be a product of
120*7
24*35
8*105
4*210
2*420
168*5
56*15
28*30
14*60
280*3
140*6
70*12

So 840 can be written in 12 ways (as 24*35=35*24, so not counting the same twice)

for
(x^m)*(y^n)*(z^p)
for this no of prime factorisation are=(m+1)*(n+1)*(p+1)
so here,
840=(2^3)*3*5*7
prime factors=(3+1)*(1+1)*(1+1)*(1+1)=4*2*2*2=32
Was this hepful or not?

Like? Yes | No (1)
Karthika   12 years ago
See I got a doubt about that 5+6=51...it should actually be 15 from my calculation..may be its wrong..
Anyways 7+9=16. given 7+9=24... in base 6, 16=24
similarly 5+6=11 given 5+6=15 ....in base 6, 11=15
hence 12+6=18 and in base 6,18 is as 30...
So answer would most probably be 30

0-99: 1 recurrence of digit 7 (single digit) + 9 (from "ones" in double digit) + 10 (from "tens" in double digit). (1+9+10)=20

100-999: 10 (from "ones" in triple digit numbers) + 90 (from "tens" in triple digit numbers) + 100 (from "hundreds" in triple digit numbers) = 10*(1+9+10)=200

1,000-9,999: again we see: 100*(1+9+10)=2,000
