New Public School has a circular layout. The school has teachers specializing in various subjects. All

classrooms of the school are equally spaced apart and located along its perimeter. Each teacher needs

to take 4 classes in a day. There is a strange rule. The first and last class has to be in the same class

roun. The other two classes have to be at two other distinct class rooms.

Ram is a math teacher. He never teaches two successive classes at two adjacent classrooms. How many distinct trips to class rooms are possible for Ram if there are 9 class rooms in the school?
Reply Like? Yes | No
Varun   4 years ago
In a day
First & last room should be same
Let's choose it arbitrarily, next class can be chosen in 6 ways
Because same room cannot be chosen & neighboring rooms are also not allowed
Round represntations of class: 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9. 1....

Let first one be 1
Then second can be 3 4 5 6 7 8
For 3, third class can be any of 5 6 7 8
For 4, third class can be any of 2 6 7 8 9
For 5, third class can be any of 2 3 7 8 9
For 6, third class can be any of 2 3 4 8 9
For 7, third class can be any of 2 3 4 5 9
For 8, third class can be any of 2 3 4 5 6
For 9, third class can be any of 2 3 4 5 6 7
And fourth class will be again 1

So total possible classes keeping first class constant is: (4)+(5*5)+(6) = 35

Similarly first class can be changed in 9 ways => Total possible trips per day = 9*35 = 315

If the capacity of a cylindrical tank is 4004 m^3 and the diameter of its base is 14 m, then find the depth of the tank?

Solution given is
Let the depth of the tank be h meter
πr²h = 4004
h = 4004/ πr²
h = (4004 x 7/22 x 1/14)
h = 91 m.

I think admin has considered 2r =14 only in place of r^2 ( 7^2).

It should be

Let the depth of the tank be h meter
πr²h = 4004
h = 4004/ πr²
h = (4004 x 7/22 x 1/49)
h = 26 m.

Please check and do justice to maths.

Let men,Women are =x,y respectively
Then children are =(20-x-y)
Then amount=
3x+2y+(20-x-y)/2=20
6x+4y-x-y=20
5x+3y=20
For the Natural Numbers N (x,y)=(1,5)
So men =1
Women =5
Children =14
Expenditure=1*3+5*2+14*0.5=20

Reply Like? Yes (1) | No
Devendra Marghade   4 years ago
Let the speed of the train be x m/sec and length of the train be y m, then y/x=11.3 or y - 11.3x = 0 --(i)
Also, (y + Length of platform)/x=18
(y+396)/x=18 => 18x-y=396 ---(ii)
Solving (i) & (ii), we get, x=59.10 and y=667.88
Hence speed of the train is 59.10 m/s

the average number of people visitedredfort on every day is 2240.but 2200 on every saturday, 3000 on sunday and on wednesday it is 1500people visited . what is the average number of people visited on remaining days in the ,month of december when there are 4 thursdays abd 4 mondays in the month?
Reply Like? Yes | No
G.S.Kantharao   4 years ago
Average Visited in December = 2240
Then total visitors = 2240*31 = 69440
As there are 4 Thursdays and 4 Mondays the other 3 are Sunday,Friday and Saturday. It means 5 Sundays 5 Fridays and 5 Saturdays
It means 5*2240+5*2200+5*3000=11200+11000+15000=37200
Remaining=69440-37200=32240
Average of remaining=32240/16=2015
So Average =2015

Let A and B are the persons.
A travelled x km,B travelled y km before they meet.
Time taken for A and B to reach their destinations are 10/3h,24/5h
Speeds are y/(10/3),x/(24/5)
At the time they meet they travelled same time => x/(3y/10)=y/5x/24)
10x/3y = 24y/5x=>50x^2=72y^2
=>x^2/y^2=72/50
x/y=√(1.44)=1.2
=>x=1.2y
Total distance =(x+y)=(x+x/1.2)=2.2x/1.2=11x/6
Now time taken for B=(11x/6)/(5x/24)
=11*24/6*5=44/5=8h 48m

If the sum of the first 43 terms of an arithmetic progression is 2967, then find the sum of the 11th and the 33rd terms of the same series.
Reply Like? Yes | No
Varun   4 years ago
First term = a, Number of terms=n, Difference = d
nth term = a+(n-1)d
11th term = a+10d, 33rd term = a+32d
Sum of 11th & 33rd= 2a+42d = 2(a+21d)=2(22nd term)

Middle term = Total sum/n
43/2 th term = 22nd term = 2967/43 = 69

=>Sum of 11th & 33rd = 2(69) = 138

Sum of first 43 terms in A.P=43(2a+42d)/2=2967
11th term +33rd terms =(a+10d)+(a+32d)=(2a+42d)
43(2a+42d)/2=2967=>(2a+42d)=2967*2/43=138

80*3 = 240 employees needed
We have 210
So 240-210 = 30 employees need to work double shift
Cross check: 180*8+30*16=1920 hours
240*8 = 1920 hours
So 30 is the answer

We know that the vertices of a quadrilateralare 2, 3, 5, and 6 cm, respectively,from a point P. What is the largest possible area of this quadrilateral?
Reply Like? Yes | No
Varun   4 years ago
Lets divide the area into 4 triangles
Area of triangle = 1/2 * base * height
So total area for right angle triangles are:
0.5*(2*3+3*5+5*6+6*2) = 31.5cm^2
If we diminish or expand any of the portions we eventually fall into same bucket I guess, so I think 31.5cm^2 should be the answer, all suggestions are welcome. Thanks.

Billal Hossain   4 years ago
We know that n! = n(n-1)(n-2)(n-3).....3(2)(1) which means that
n! = n(n-1)!
Dividing both sides of the equation by n, we have
(n - 1)! = n!/n
Using this fact, we can check the following pattern.
4! = 5!/5 = {(5)(4)(3)(2)(1)}/5 = 24
3! = 4!/4 = {(4)(3)(2)(1)}/4 = 6
2! = 3!/3 = {(3)(2)(1)}/3 = 2
1! = 2!/2 = {(2)(1)}/2=1

Now, we go to 0!
0! = 1!/1 = 1

In how many ways one or more than one fruit, can be selected from 6 varieties of fruits given that there are 5 fruits of each variety?
Reply Like? Yes | No
Varun   5 years ago
(1) Lets just first select from 1 variety,
In 5 ways one or more of same variety can be picked {1,2,3,4,5}
We have 6 such varieties

(2) Now lets go to second variety,
Additionally,
Picking from second variety can be done in 6 ways including picking zero {0,1,2,3,4,5,6}
And we have 5 such extra varieties
= 5*6*6*5 = 900

Two articles A and B, with the same marked price were sold at 15% and 12% discounts respectively. Percentage of the profit earned on articles A and B was 6.25% and 20% respectively. The cost price of article B was Rs.160 less than the cost price of article A. Find the marked price of the each article.

Devendra Marghade   5 years ago
Let the CP of A=x+160 and B=x. Marked Price of A and B=P.
Then, SP of A = P*85/100 = (106.25/100)* (x+160) ---> 17P = (x+160)*21.25 ---(i)
SP of B = P*88/100 = (120/100)*x ---> 11P = 15x ---(ii)
Solving (i) & (ii), we get Marked Price = P=2400 and CP of B=x=1760, CP of A=(x+160)=1920

Hi, looking for feedback regarding the following question:
There are 500 candies. If 350 have sprinkles and 300 have chocolate chips, and at least 60 have neither sprinkles nor chocolate chips, the number of candies that have both is in this range:
a)40 and 120
b)80 and 180
c)180 and 320
d)210 and 300
e)300 and 350
This question is from this site and I've also placed my reasoning/solution for it.
Any help will be most appreciated.

It is 210 and 300
Total candies 500
Out of these candies with both maximum is 300. Since chocklet chips is subset to sprinkles.
60 is neither of them. So either of them are 500-60=440
Now minimum =350+300-440=210
So it will be 210 and 300

How many Kg ot wheat @ Rs. 14 per kg should be mixed with 32 kg of wheat @ Rs
22 per kg so that there is a profit of 25% by selling the mixture @ Rs 23.90 per kg
Reply Like? Yes | No (1)
Devendra Marghade   5 years ago
Ans: 18 kg

Let x kg of wheat costing Rs. 14/kg is mixed, then (x*14 + 32*22)/(x+32) = 23.9*(100/125)
(14x + 704) / (x+32) = 19.12
14x + 704 = 19.12x + 611.84
5.12x = 92.16
x = 18

Gold is 19 times as heavy as water and copper is 9 times as heavy as water. In
what ratio should these be mixed to get an alloy 15 times as heavy as water.
Reply Like? Yes (1) | No
Devendra Marghade   5 years ago
Required ratio = (15-9)/(19-15) = 6/4 = 3/2
Therefore, these should be mixed in the ratio 3:2.

Let the number of students be 'x' then x-1=6y and x-2=7z
=> 6y+1 = 7z+2 or 6y - 7z = 1
Which is true for y=6, z=5
So, minimum number of students=6y+1 or 7z+2 = 37

Please help with this problem.
If two numbers are divided by a dividor produce remaindes 3 and 4, but then the sum of the numbers is divided by that divisor gives remainder 2. Find the divisor.
Reply Like? Yes (1) | No
Devendra Marghade   5 years ago
Ans=5

Let the divisor be a, first no. be x and second no. be y, then in given 3 conditions
X = ak + 3 —(i)
y = al + 4 —(ii)
x+y = am + 2 —(iii)
Adding (i) & (iii), and Substituting x+y in (iii), we get (ak+3) + (al+4) = am+2
a(m-k-l) = 5
Prime factorization gives a=5 or 1
As divisor cannot be 1 in above given conditions, so divisor a=5.
