13, 24, 35, 46, 57, 68, 79... seven (7) two digit numbers are possible.
02+18 also gives 20 but 02 can not be considered as two digit number.

368 units of water are added in 864 units of M.
864 units of M contain 120 units of A, 616 units of B and 128 units of C .
As concentration of B is 50% in final mixture, volume/wt of total mixture is 2*616=1232 units.
Hence 1232-864 = 368 units of water are added to 864 units of M. How you get 120 616, 128..

Product M ls produced by mixing chemical x and chemical Y in the ratio of 5 4. Chemical x is prepared by mixing two raw materials, A and B, in the ratio of 1 3. Chemical Y is prepared by mixing raw materials, B and C, in the ratio of 2 1. Then the final mixture is prepared by mixing 864 units of product M with water. If the concentration of the raw material B in the final mixture is 50%, how much water had been added to product M.

480 units of X contain 120 units of A and 360 units of B ( ratio 1:3).
384 units of Y contain 256 units of B and 128 units of C.
so 864 units of M contain 616 ( 360+256) units of B,
864 units of M contain 120 units of A, 616 units of B and 128 units of C.

Latest MBA Aptitude Question SOLUTION: ABCD is a trapezium with AB parallel to CD. AC is perpendicular to BC and BD is perpendicular to AD. If AD=BC=15cm and AB=25cm , find the area of the trapezium ABCD.
Reply Like? Yes | No (1)
kewal   7 years ago
192 cm^2

BD= Sqrt ( 25^2-15^2) = 20
area of triangle ADB = 20*15/2= 150 sq cm
Height of triangle ADB= 2*150/25= 12 cms
Height for this triangle = equal to the height of trapezium.

so height of trapezium = 12cm.
By calculations, we get
CD=7cm

Area of trapezium =1/2*(AB+CD)*Height

Hence area of ABCD trapezium = (1/2)*(25+7)*12 = 192 sq. cm.

· 2. Average weight of a class of 60 students is 56 kg.
a. With the exit of two students, the average weight of the class reduces by I kg. What is the average weight of the students who leave the class?
b. If the weight of none of the students in the class of 60 was not less than 54 kg, what can be the maximum weight of any student in the class?
Reply Like? Yes | No
Devendra Marghade   7 years ago
a. Let an average weight of two students who leave the class be x kg, then
Average weight of remaining 58 students=(60*56 - 2x)/58 = 55
=> 3360 - 2x = 3190 or x=85

b. To get the maximum weight of any of the student in the class, let us consider the remaining 59 students are of minimum weight of 54 kg, and 1 students of maximum weight is of 'x' kg, then
Total weight=59*54 + x = 60*56
=> x=3360 - 3186=174

Q. Two merchants sell, each an article for Rs.1000. If Merchant A computes his profit on cost price, while Merchant B computes his profit on selling price, they end up making profits of 25% respectively. By how much is the profit made by Merchant B greater than that of Merchant A?
Option
Reply Like? Yes | No
Varun   7 years ago
Given SP = 1000
FOR A,
(SP-CP)/CP * 100 = PP
(1000-CP)/CP *100 = 25
(1000/CP - 1)*100 = 25
1000/CP - 1 = 25/100 = 0.25
1000/CP = 1.25
CP = 1000/1.25 = 800rs
Profit = SP-CP = 1000-800 = 200

FOR B,
(SP-CP)/SP = PP
(1000-CP)/1000 = 25%
1 - CP/1000 = 0.25
CP/1000 = 0.75
CP = 750
Profit = SP-CP = 1000-750 = 250rs

So, profit of B - A = 250-200 = Rs.50/-

By 50rs profile made by Merchant B is greater than that of Merchant A.

explanation: let k years ago
then (4x+k)/(3x+k)=5/3
then x=-2k/3
now present ages become -8k/3 and -2k
according to the given statement i.e, after 4 years this ratio will become 9:7
the ratio becomes
(4-(8k/3))/(4-2k)=9/7
by solving
k=-12

There are 9 three digit numbers . Each number is reversed and the reversed number is subtracted from the original number. The results were found to have an average of 0. If for each number, hundreds digit is not less than its unit digit , find the average of the hundreds digit of the greatest and least numbers ?
Reply Like? Yes | No
Varun   7 years ago
101 is the least 3 digit number to have "hundreds digit not less than unit digit"

Result = 101-101 = 0

999 is the greatest 3 digit number.
Result = 999-999 = 0

Rest 7 numbers take any palindrome numbers like 252, 373, 444, 505, 666, 767, 868
Or any set giving average result zero like:
234, 432, 566, 775, 476, 988, 777

So required answer = (9-1)/2 = 5

Reply Like? Yes | No

Let points scored in first match be x

Then, his points are:
x, x-2, x-4,..., x-14, x-16
Average = [9x- 2(1+2+3...+8)]/9
= [9x-2(8*9)/2]/9
= [9x-72]/9
= x-8 = 16...., Given
=> x = 24
So second match score = 24-2 = 22
Eight match score = x-14 = 24-14 =10
Average points = (22+10)/2
= 16

sum of sum of numbers given by all N students = N*( 21*(N-1) )

Each student leaves 1 number,,,
let the numbers left by students be k1,k2,k3, ....,kn,,,,so for student1 it will be

21(N-1) = sum of N numbers - k1

=N(N+1)/2 - k1

for every student, it will be N(N+1)/2 - ki
Adding sum obtained by all N students , we get

N*( 21*(N-1) ) = N* ( N(N+1)/2 ) - (k1 -k2 ...... -kn)

adding k1 to kn, we get sum of N numbers

so it will be,, 21*N*(N - 1 ) = (N - 1)*N*(N+1)/2

solving it, we get N=41

an ant smartly moves across a staircase taking the shortest distance. calculate the distance it takes to reach top to B from A given that staircase consist of 2 steps. it also known that the length,breadth and height is 6cm,2cm and 1cm respectively
Reply Like? Yes (2) | No
~Sandeep~   7 years ago
Shortest distance would be when ant doesn't travel any distance in the direction of length while climbing the height or passing the breadth.
So for one stair the smart Ant should cover = Height of Stair+ Breadth of stair = 1+2 =3 cm

So for 2 stairs the shortest distance traveled by Ant = 2*3= 6 cm
Like? Yes (2) | No (3)
Dimple   7 years ago
Ant will move diagonally on each step covering a distance of sqrt 5 cms.
Hence total distance travelled for two steps = 2*sqrt 5 cms.
Like? Yes (3) | No (1)
raushan kumar   6 years ago
Assume there is a staircase with 2 steps length = 6cm and breadth and height are 1 and 2
so the shortest distance is from left end of the 1st step to right end of the 2nd step which forms a right angled triangle, triangle side are AB, AC and BC.
By using pythagoras theorem,
AC^2 = AB^2+BC^2
AC^2 = 6^2+(2+1+2+1)^2 [height + breath of 2 steps]
AC^2 = 36+36
AC = 6 _/ 2

1/7
Any number N, when divided by 7, could have remainder as {0,1,2,3,4,5,6}
So total number of possible outcomes = 7
Total number of positive outcome =1

Hence 1/7

1992 Feb have 5 Sundays. In which year, the month Feb have 5 Sundays next?
Reply Like? Yes | No
Varun   7 years ago
2020 will have the next,

For every 4 years( between 2 leap years), there will 365*4+1 days
= 1456 days
= 1461+5 days
= 208 weeks + 5 days
= 208 negligible weekdays count + 5 to be considered odd days.

So, 1996 Feb will have 5 Fridays ( because Sunday + 5th odd day = Friday)

So, for every 4 years, if we get 5 odd days.
then to get 7 or multiple of 7 as odd day,
we should go on searching in multiples of 5(required) days,
i.e. in 5,10,15,20,25,30,35,40,45,....
35 is the nearest multiple of both 5,7 which is nothing but LCM(least common multiple)

So to get 35 odd days, we are taking 7 leap years to pass out = 7*4years = 28 years
= 1992 + 28 = 2020

You can cross check it with real calendar, both 1992 and 2020 have 5 Saturdays(respectively)

Short cut, easy, handy method is to find odd days in these kind of questions and use logic accordingly.
