Distance between A and B is 450 km. A car and a
bus travel from A to B speed of car is 20 km/h more
than that of bus. After travelling 2/3rd distance car
stops for 2 hours and after that remaining distance
is covered at 2/3rd of initial speed and reaches at B.
Bus after travelling 1/3rd of distance stops for 1
hour and after that increases its speed by 25% and
reaches at B at the same time as the car. Find the
speed of bus and car and also find the time taken it
took the car and the bus to reach at B.

1. C D A E B or

So if we consider the 1st arrangement the answer will be B

Ratio of mixture should be 1:5.

CP of 6 kg mixture = (50*1+60*5)/6 = Rs 350/6
SP of 1 kg mixture for 20% profit = 350*1.2/6 = 35*12/6= rs 70

Q. Two trains for B leave A at 6.30am and 7.40am and travel at 30km/hr and 40 km./he respectively. How many kms from A will the trains meet?
a) 100km
b) 35km
c) 150km
d) 140km
Reply Like? Yes | No
Devendra Marghade   7 years ago
d) 140km

Let after time of 't' hrs both train meets, then
Distance covered by train leaving at 6.30 am at 30 kmph = Distance covered by train leaving at 7.40 am at 40 kmph.
=> (1 hr 10 min + t)*30 = t*40
=> (7/6 + t)*30 = t*40
=> t = 7/2 or 3.5 hrs i.e. both train meets after 3 hr & 30 min.
Hence distance covered from A is (7/6 + t)*30 or t*40 = 140 km.

Reply Like? Yes | No
Nisith naman parida   7 years ago
Ans.15/16.

Explanation: Because there 2 chances. And 4 digits are to be used. So total no. Of possible outcomes is 2^6=16.
In 2 chances, except 1111, every outcome will have ≥ 1 zero's.
So P(0)= 16-1/16
= 15/16.

The price of tea increases by 20% and hence the expenditure of a family increases by 10%. Find out by what percent the consumption has been decreased
Reply Like? Yes | No
Karan   7 years ago
Suppose earlier consumption of 100 gms of tea and total expenditure was Rs 100 .
With same consumption of 100 gms tea, expenditure after 20% increase in price, will be Rs 120.
As new expenditure is Rs 110 only, total consumption now = 100*110/120 = 91.67 gms
% reduction in consumption = 100-91.67 = 8.33 %
Like? Yes (2) | No
Sourav   7 years ago
Let before our price is RS100 by increased of 20℅ it goes to 120 . Simply expenditure is also 100 and increase it to 110 by 10℅ .
So, 120 is to 100
Then 110 is to ?? 91.66 : so consumption decrease is 100-91.66== 8.33
Like? Yes | No
Monika shree   7 years ago
Let price of tea and quantity of tea produced = 100P and 100Q respectively,
Then, monthly bill = 10000PQ.
Now,
⇒ Price of tea = 120P (After 20% increase)
⇒ Monthly bill = 11000PQ (after 10% increase)
Then, consumption = 11000PQ/120P = 1100Q/12 = 91.67Q
Reduction in Consumption = (100Q - 91.67Q)/100Q x 100%
= 8.33% or 25/3%

The price of tea increases by 20% and hence the expenditure of a family increases by 10%. Find out by what percent the consumption has been decreased
Reply Like? Yes | No
Bankim   7 years ago
Suppose earlier consumption of 100 gms of tea and total expenditure was Rs 100 .
With same consumption of 100 gms tea, expenditure after 20% increase in price, will be Rs 120.
As new expenditure is Rs 110 only, total consumption now = 100*110/120 = 91.67 gms
% reduction in consumption = 100-91.67 = 8.33 %

The average score of a certain cricketer for all the innings he played is 60 runs. His highest score exceeds his lowest score by 138 runs. If these two innings are excluded, his average is reduced by 2 runs. If his lowest score is greater than 36 but less than 48, find the number of innings he played given that the number of innings is a prime number?
Reply Like? Yes | No
Anita   7 years ago
number of innings= 53
If n is total number of innings and L is lowest score, then
60n = 58(n-2) +L+L+138
2n= 2L+22
n= L+11
with given conditions, we get L=42 and n=53 .. a prime number.

The present age of Romila is one-fourth that of her father. After 6 years the father’s age will be twice the age of Kapil. If Kapil celebrated fifth birthday 8 years ago. What is Romila’s present age?
Reply Like? Yes | No
Karan   7 years ago
8 years

Present age of Kapil = 5+8= 13 years
Kapil's age after 6 years = 19 years
Father's age after 6 years = 19*2=38 years
Present age of father = 38-6= 32 years
Romila's present age = 32/4= 8 years

In a consumer preferences survey, 20% respondents opted for product A, whereas 60% opted for product B. The remaining individuals were undecided. If the difference between those who opted for product B and those who were undecided is 720, how many individuals had been interviewed for the survey?

In a consumer preferences survey, 20% respondents opted for product A, whereas 60% opted for product B. The remaining 20% individuals were undecided.
Difference in % age of those who opted for product B and those who were undecided = 40% of total
40% of total =720
Total individuals = 720/0.4 =1800

sohan takes twice as much time as mohan to complete a work and rohan does in it the same time as sohan and mohan together. if all of them working together can finish the work in 6 days , then find the time taken by each of then separately.
Reply Like? Yes | No
Karan   7 years ago
Suppose Sohan completes 1 unit of work in one day, then
Mohan completes 2 units of work in one day and
Rohan completes 3 units of work in 1 day.
All three together complete 6 units of work in 1 day.
All three together complete 36 units of work in 6 days.
Hence total work involves 36 units of work.
So sohan independently takes 36 days to complete work.
So Mohan independently takes 18 days to complete work.
So Rohan independently takes 12 days to complete work.

two electronic musical instruments were purchased for rs 8000 the first was sold at a profit of 40% and the second 40% of loss if the same price in both cases what was the cost price two instruments
Reply Like? Yes | No
Pargat Pal Singh   7 years ago
If cost price of one instrument is x, then CP of other instrument is 8000-x.
As per given condition,
1.4x= (8000-x)*0.6
x= Rs. 2400
Hence CP of two instruments are Rs 2400 and Rs. 5600.

A cistern has 3 pipes A, B and C. A and B can fill it in 3 hours and 4 hours respectively, and C can empty it in 5 hours. If the pipes A, B and C are opened at 2 pm, 3pm and 4 pm respectively on the same day, the cistern will be empty in (Approximately)

It will never be empty.
Speed of filling by A and B pipes is greater than speed of pipe c to empty the cistern.
Further pipes A and B are opened before pipe C.
