33 is subtracted from one third of a number, then the obtained number is increased by 250 %. 5/7 of the number obtained is multiplied by 3/2 then its half is increased to 120 %. when 225 is decreased from the obtained number, zero is obtained, then the number is
[{(?/3)-33}*3.5*(5/7)*(3/2)*(1/2)*1.2]-225=0 => ?=399
Note that number is increased by 250 % means the number will become 100% +250% = 350% of the original number for this we should multiply the number to 3.5. Similarly number is increased to 120 % means the number will become 120% of the original number for this we should multiply the number to 1.2
A cylinder of radius and height both equal to 10 cm. made by paper is unfolded to form a plane sheet of paper. If circumference of a circle is 2*Pi*R, then area of plane paper sheet is-
OPtion
1) 100 Pi
2) 400 Pi
3) 300 Pi
4) 200 Pi
5) 20 Pi
6) 10 Pi
7) 40 Pi
8) 2 Pi
9) 5 Pi
10)None of these
Solution
When we unfold a cylinder, its height becomes breadth of paper and circumference becomes length of paper,
therefore area is l×2*Pi*R = 10×2*Pi*10 = 200*Pi
The side of a square exceeds the side of another square by 4 cm and the sum of the area of the two squares in 400 sq cm. Find the dimension of the square.
Let side of smaller square = x cm
The side of other square = (x+4) cm
The sum of area of square = x^2+(x+4)^2 = 400
Solve we get
x = 12 and x = -16 (-16 cm not possible because length cannot be negative)
8 sticks are available to make a rectangle. One side of the rectangle is taken along east direction whereas second side is taken along north direction. How many rectangles can be made by using these sticks. It is not compulsory to use all the sticks in a trial.
First contains two sticks along north & one stick along east.
Second contains one stick along north & two sticks along east.
By using 8 sticks, there are 3 possibilities.
First contains two sticks along north & two sticks along east.
Second contains three sticks along north & one stick along east.
Third contains one stick along north & three sticks along east.
A number consists of two digits whose sum is 9. The number obtained by reversing the order of the digits of the given number exceeds the given number by 27. Find the given number.
Let the tens digit of the number be x and its units digit be y.
By the question
x+y = 9 (i)
and
y-x = 3 (ii)
On solving (i) and (ii) we get y=6 and x =3
10x+y = 10*3+6 = 36
