Let the average of all six be x
then sixth men contribute = x-5
According to question :
(15*5 )+ x-5))/6 = x
75 + x - 5 = 6x
70 = 5x
x= 14
so sixth men pay = x-5 = 14-5 = 9

23. On selling a bat at 5/7th of its marked price, the store earns 15% profit. What is the profit earned if it is sold at marked price?
Reply Like? Yes | No
Devendra Marghade   10 years ago
61%

If marked price=x, then 5x/7 is 115% of the actual cost,so x=115*x/(5x/7)=161 of the actual cost.
Hence profit earned=61%.

(c) 5

Here ultimately 2 is added to numerator and denominator both to get ratio 1/2
So (P+2)/(Q+2)=1/2 ,2P+4=Q+2 or 2P-Q=-2, So we can have values (P,Q)=(1,4) ,(2,6), (3,8), ......to satisfy condition.So among given options, P+Q=1+4=5

2) A man rows to a place 48 km distant and comes back in 14 hours. He find that he can row 4 km with the stream in the same time as 3 km against the stream. The rate of the stream is :
A) 1 kmph B) 1.5 kmph
C) 2 kmph D) 2.5 kmph
View Answer

Bhoomesh pamalla   10 years ago
opyion is A)
Suppose he move 4 km downstream in x hours. Then,

Speed downstream = 4 km/hr.
x
Speed upstream = 3 km/hr.
x
48 + 48 = 14 or x = 1 .
(4/x) (3/x) 2
So, Speed downstream = 8 km/hr, Speed upstream = 6 km/hr.

Rate of the stream = 1 (8 - 6) km/hr = 1 km/hr.

A thief is spotted by a police man from a distance of 200m. When the police man start chasing the thief also starts running. If the speed of the thief be 16km/hr and that of the policeman be 20km/hr, how far the thief will have run before he is overtaken?
Reply Like? Yes | No
animesh   8 years ago
the separation initially is 200m ,
final separation is 0m,
so,
relative distance travelled is 200m.
velocity of police is 20kmph
velocity of theif is 16kmph
relative velocity is 4kmph.
so using v=d/t
we get,
t=d/v
=> 0.2/4
=> 1/20hrs
=> (1/20)*60mins
= 3 minutes.

navya sri   10 years ago
here we have a*b*c*d=126
a*c=19
and in brackets a condition is given, by that condition we get a+b+c+d=10a+c=19
so by equating both sides we get in tens place a=1,c=9 in units place
b*d=126/9=14
b+d=9
so by solving we get the values of b &d as 7 &2 respectively
in the question they asked the diffrnce of hundreds and tens so 7-2=5.so 5 is the correct answer

Time taken = Distance ÷ Speed

Time taken = 10 ÷ 50 = 1/5 hour

1/5 hour = 1/5 x 60 = 12 mins
Total time = 20 mins

Time for returned trip = 20 - 12 = 8 min
8 mins = 8/60 = 2/15 hour

Speed = Distance ÷ Time

Speed = 10 ÷ 2/15

Speed = 10 x 15/2

Speed = 150/2

Speed = 75 miles per hour

If two-digit number=10x+y
Given, (10x+y) -(10y+x)=36 or x-y=4 ---(i) and
y/x=1/2 or x=2y ---(ii)
On solving (i) & (ii), x=8, y=4, So the number is 84
Difference between Sum and difference of the digits=(8+4)-(8-4)=8

. Two workers A and B manufactured a batch of identical parts. A worked for 2 hours and B worked for 5 hours and they did half the job. Then they worked together for another 3 hours and they had to do (1/20)th of the job. How much time does B take to complete the job, if he worked alone?
A) 24 hours
B) 12 hours
C) 15 hours
D) 30 hours

let x be the total hours to complete the job and A the amount of time for A doing the job and likewise B for the other worker , then we have so 5B+2A=x/2 and then 3A+3B = (x/2-19x/20)

a team 80% of games it played.it played 5 more games of which it won 3 and lost 2 .its loss percentage changed to 25%.how many games did played overall??
Reply Like? Yes | No
Devendra Marghade   10 years ago
20 games

If initially games played=x, then games won=(80/100)*x=0.8x and lost=(20/100)*x=0.2x
When 5 more games are played it won 3 and lost 2, so total won=0.8x+3 and lost=0.2x+2
As loss percentage is 25% of the total game played, so (0.2x+2)/(0.8x+3) =25/75, x=15
Overall games played=15+5=20

A can do a job in 20 days. He is 20% less efficient than B but 20% more efficient than C. They will all do the job in how many days working together?
Reply Like? Yes (1) | No
Devendra Marghade   10 years ago
Ans=6 18/37

1 day job of A=1/20, B=(1/20)*(100/80)=1/16 and C=(1/20)*(100/120)=1/24
So working together ,days required to complete the job=1/[(1/20)+(1/16)+(1/24)]=240/37=6 18/37

In a 500m race,ratio of speed of 2 runners vinay & shyam 3:4 if vinay has a start of 140m, then vinay wins by
Reply Like? Yes (1) | No
neha gupta   10 years ago
t=d/s
vinay-3x
Shyam-4x
distance to be covered by vinay=500-140=360
distance to be covered by shyam=500m
time taken by vinay=360/3x
in this time distance covered by shyam =
4x*360/3x=4*120=480m
So in the time Vinay has covered complete 500m , shyam has covered only 480m .Thus Vinay wins by 20m.

minimum common factor of 16 and 24 is 48, so 3 tiles along 16 units edge and 2 tiles along 24 units edge can form a square.
