10/11 days

A boy with twice the efficiency can dig a pit in 20/2=10 days,
4 men and 9 boys 1 day work=(4/20)+(9/10)=22/20
So days require to dig similar pit=20/22=10/11

(x^2+224)=8(y^2)
3x=4y
x=4y/3
((4y/3)^2)+224)=8(y^2)
(16/9y^2)+224=8(y^2)
(16/9y^2)+224=72/9(y^2)
(56/9)y^2=224
56y^2=2016
y^2=36
y=6
3x=4y

lets numbers be 3x and 4x, then
16x^2 = (8*9x^2)-224
16x^2 = 72 x^2 - 224
56x^2 = 224
x^2 =4 => x=2
therfore two numbers are 6,8

2:3
hexagone consists of 6 equilateral triangles
so ratio of their ares = x^2 : 6 y^2

putting it, ratio will come out to be 2:3

let work is completed in d days.
b work for (d-3) days
c work for d days.
so,work done by a in 2 day+work done by b in (d-3) day+work done by c in d day=1.
calculating d we get d=60/7 day

Let the length of hypotenuse side be x
Hence, the length of second side =x-1
Let the length of third side be y
Using pythagaros theorem,
x^2=(x-1)^2+y^2
x^2=x^2-2x+1+y^2
0=-2x+1+y^2
y^2=2x-1
y=√(2x-1)
example:
x=5
x-1=4
y=√(2*5-1)= √(9)=3

A container contains milk and water in the ratio 4:1 How much mixture should be taken out and replaced with water so that the container contains milk and water in the ratio of 3:2?

Explain pls
Reply Like? Yes | No
SORNA KAMALAM S   10 years ago
Ans:25%

Let the initial mixture content be 100 litres
Ratio 4:1
4x+1x=100
5x=100
X=20
mixture Ratio Litres(100)
milk 4 80
water 1 20

Let R litre of the mixture be replaced with water
Now, let us first consider the mixture content
Ratio 4:1
4x+1x= (100-R)
5x= (100-R)
X= ((100-R)/5)

mixture Ratio Litres(100-R)
milk 4 4*((100-R)/5)
water 1 1*((100-R)/5)

Now, let us consider the new mixture content
(100-R)+R=100
where,
(100-R)-->Original solution
R-->Replaced water

Given: ratio 3:2
3x+2x=100
5x=100
X=20

mixture Ratio Litres(100-R)+R=100
milk 3 60= 4*((100-R)/5)
water 2 40= 1*((100-R)/5)+R

60=4*((100-R)/5)
15= ((100-R)/5)
75=100-R
R=25

There are two bags. One bag contains 4 white and 2 black balls. Second bag contains 5 white and 4 black balls. 2 balls are transferred from first bag to second bag. Then one ball is taken from the second bag. The probability that the ball is white is ?
Reply Like? Yes | No
ashvini kumar   10 years ago
there are 3 ways for transferring 2 ball from 1st bag to 2nd
in 1st case suppose 2 white ball transferred so probability of selecting 2 white ball=4c2/6c2=2/5
along with probability of selecting 1 white ball from 2nd=2/5*7/11=14/55
in 2nd case
2 black ball transferrd so selecting 1 white from 2nd ball=2c2/6c2*5/11=1/33
in 3rd case
1 white and 1 black ball transferred so along with probability of selecting 1 white from 2nd ball=(4c1*2c1/15)*6/11= 16/55
so overall probability=14/55+1/33+16/55=19/33

In a class consisting of 75 students 25 didn’t know typing,45 knew short hand and 10 knew neither typing nor short hand.

3. How many students knew both typing and short hand?
a. 20 b. 25 c. 30 d. cannot be determined
Reply Like? Yes (15) | No (3)
ashvini kumar   10 years ago
only shorthand + know both shorthand and typing=45--------------eq 1
only shorthand+neither know typing nor shorthnad= not know typing=25
only shorthand+10=25
only shorthand=15
in eq1
15+both know shorthand and typing=45
both know shorthand and typing=30
so correct answer is c.

Pooja   5 years ago
->Total no. of students=75
->Parameters=Typing, Shorthand
->Remove 10 students as they don't know either typing nor shorthand. You need to remove 10 from
those who dint know typing because you can't remove from who know shorthand. 25-10=15.
->So 15 people don't know typing now, so they have to know short hand. 45-15=30.
->Therefore, 30 people know both typing and shorthand.
-> Ans: c. 30

Tanks A&B are each in the shape of right circular cylinder,the interior of tank A has a height of 10mts and circumference of 8mts and the interior of tank B has a height of 8mts and circumference of 10mts. Tha capacity of tank A is what % capacity of tank B.
a. 80% b.75% c.100% d.120%
Reply Like? Yes (3) | No (3)
ashvini kumar   10 years ago
for tank A
circumference: 2*pi*r=8 so r=4/pi capacity=pi*r*r*h=160/pi
for tank B
circumference=2*pi*r=10 r=5/pi capacity=200/pi
a/c problem
capacity B*x/100=capacity A
200/pi*x/100=160/pi
x=80%
correct option=a

80%.
volume of A= pi*r^2*h=pi*[(8/(2*pi))^2]*10,
volume of B =pi*r^2*h=pi*[(10/(2*pi))^2]*8,
V(a)/V(b) =(8^2*10)/(10^2*8)=8/10=80%,
V(a) =80% V(b).

MADHUBABU   10 years ago
1-9 = 9 x 1 = 9 digits
10-99 = 90 x 2 = 180 digits
100-999 = 900x3 = 2700 digits
need = 28383 - 2889 = 25494 digits
need 25494/4 = 6373.50 more terms. wow... 0.5 terms? not possible. so we need to take 6374th term from 1000th term. i.e.

1000-7374 = 6374 terms x 4 = 25496 digits.
so altogather 1-7374 terms have 28385 digits. 28385th digit is 4, 28384th digit is 7 and 28383rd digit is 3.

when last digits will 1,2,3 and 5 then total numbers formed will 96 for each and all numbers are divisible by last digit .
when last digit will 4 then by divisibility rule last 2 digit should be divisible by 4
and hence number formed are 42.

hey anjali ,can u solve.. what is the maximum value of n when 185! divided by 185^n is given integer value? acutally i want proper explanation,
Reply Like? Yes | No
Anjali Sadhukhan   10 years ago
My Approach:

189=33 . 7

When 185/3=61

61/3=20

20/3=6

6/3=2

Its Remainder Sum=89

185/7=26

26/7=3

Its Remainder Sum=29

So,3^89 . 7^29

27^29 . 7^29

I am getting 29 as the final Ans.

Coz,185!=1*2*3*.....185.

coz 37 is prime number.So,no other factor is of 185.
so,185!=185*185*(1*2*3......184 without 5 & 37)

Length, Breadth and Height of a 3D figure is in the ratio 3:2:1. If the length is doubled and Breadth & Height are halved, then what is the % decrease in the volume of the solid?
Reply Like? Yes (31) | No (3)
Devendra Marghade   10 years ago
50% decrease

If original length, breadth & height are 3x, 2x and x respectively, then volume=3x*2x*x=6x^3
With length doubled, breadth & height halved, new dimensions are 6x, x and x/2 respectively and volume=6x*x*x/2=3x^3
So % decrease in volume=100*(6x^3-3x^3)/6x^3=50

eg - (3,4,1),(3,1,4),(1,3,4),(1,4,3),(4,1,3),(4,3,1) so total Six ways..
case 2 (2,6,1) Again 6 ways
case 3 (12,1,,) again 6 ways

3600 = 2^4 × 3^2 × 5^2

so let, for three ordered numbers abc
a * b * c = 2^4 × 3^2 × 5^2
OR
b * c * a = 2^4 × 3^2 × 5^2
OR
c * a * b = 2^4 × 3^2 × 5^2
OR .............

so we can see that we 3 options, i.e. a,b,c , for each numbers 2^4 , 3^2 , 5^2

now according to permutation and combination formula , to distribute n things among r the formula is
n + r - 1Cr - 1

to distribute 2^4 => Four 2s among 3 places => (4+3−1)C(3−1)=6C2 = 15 ways
to distribute 3^2 => two 3s among 3 places => (2+3−1)C(3−1)=4C2 = 6 ways
to distribute 5^2 => two 5s among 3 places => (2+3−1)C(3−1)=4C2 = 6 ways

Total ways = 15 × 6 × 6 = 540

consider x as an initial price...........then accordingly...........x*(120/100)*(130/100)=78 on solving for x we will get the answer 50 that means option "b" is correct.

50 because by supposing from option and apply this
50+ 20% of 50 =60

no should be end by 9
because if some no will be divided by 5 and we add 4 in that it will end with 4 or 9. no which will end with cannot be prime
now all the which is multiple of 5 end with 8 and on adding 1 we get 9(b/w 1 to 100) are---
9,29,69,89
29 and 89 are prime so sum=118

By framing equations we get
30L+3Q=11.67
30L+6Q=12.48
Eliminate Q by multiplying the first equation by 2 and subtracting second equation from the first
Then we get L = 0.362
Cost of 10 kgs of apples = 0.362 x 10 = 3.62

Let x be the total number of students
Using Venn diagram we can find out that (28+20+12)% = 60% is the percentage of students who are failed in at least one subject so 40% are the students who passed in both subjects
so 40% of x = 840
on solving it we get , x = 2100

If numerator becomes 160 the fraction will give a complete number, so (160-103)/80=57/80 is a minimum fraction to be added.

the ans will be 7.6==7 and half day.
given that b will be common in both cases,so take the common factor which suits best for the given conditions.it will be 24 which b alone can do the work.then
1/a+1/24=1/12 -->1/a=1/24,so that a and b alone do the work in same no of days.
let find c: 1/24+1/c=1/20 -->1/c=1/120,which is c one day work,
:for 4 days the completed work is 1/a+1/b+1/c=4*(11/120).
remaining work left is 76/120,,which should be completed by a and b together,
(a and b) one day work 1-->1/12
in order to complete 76/120 no of days required is (76/120)*12=7.6

Accurately 6 days... read carefully..
let a+b=1/12 ...(1)
b+c=1/20 ...(2)
(1)-(2)--->a-c=1/10---(3)
as b+c=1/20
(1/2)(a-c)=(b+c)---*****(a correlation between the equations)..(4)
a=3c+2b---(5) applying the given equations with b as common variable
1/12-b=3(1/20-b)+2b
by solving we get b=1/120
by solving for a and b we get a=9/120 and c=5/120
then by the condition
4(a+b+c)+t(a+b)=1----(6)
applying a,b,c values in (6)
..we get answer as t=6
thus the remaining work will be completed by a and b by 6 days...just work out

if price of product is increased by 25% and no of product is decreased by 22 then what will be change in selling price??
Reply Like? Yes | No (1)
Devendra Marghade   10 years ago
2.5 % decrease

If original price=100 and number of product=100, then selling price=100*100=10000
With 25% increase new price=100*125/100=125, Number of product=100-22=78,then new selling price=125*78=9750
So % change in selling price=(10000-9750)/100=2.5
