neha gupta   10 years ago
Let a-4=x , b-3=y , c-1=z
Ading all three we get a-4+b-3+c-1=x+y+z
a+b+c-8=x+y+z
8-8=x+y+z
x+y+z=0
Therefore
x^3 + y^3 +z^3 -3xyz=0
Thus ans is 0

I can tell you the methods of solution ,May be u can understand by this
10%p.a compounded annually means given rate and time are taken as it is while putting in formula.
10%p.a compounded quarterly means given rate needs to be divided by 4 and time needs to be multiplied by 4 for putting in formula.
10% quarterly compounded quarterly means only time needs to be multiplied by 4.
10% quarterly compounded annually means rate needs to be multiplied by 4.

A rectangular tank has dimensions 5 m x 3 m x 2 m. There are three inlet pipes P. Q. R, which have filling rates of 2 m3/hr. 3 m3/hr and 5 m3 /hr respectively. At 9:00 am. when the tank was empty,P was opened. Q was opened at 9 30 a.m. and R was opened at 10:30 am. The time at which the tank would be full is
Reply Like? Yes (12) | No (4)
neha gupta   10 years ago
As initially only P was opened therefore in half an hour it will fill 1m3
From 9:30 to 10:30 both p and q are opened therefore another 5m3 is filled
Remaining capacity=30-6=24m3
P+Q+R can fill 10m3 in 1 hour,
Thus no of hours after 10:30 =24/10=2.4 hours=2 hrs 24 mins
So at 12:54 am tank will be completely filled.
Like? Yes (10) | No (3)
Niladri Shekhar Dey   10 years ago
we here can get the volume of the tank as (5*3*2) m^3= 30 m^3
now if p is alone opened for 30 minute i.e half an hour ,till 9.30 1 m^3 will be filled up. then P+Q is filling it for next 1 hr so now at 10.30 1+2+3=6m^3 is filled up.
30--6=24 m^3 still left .so now the part to filled up by p is (24*(2/(2+3+5)))=4.8m^3
similerly for Q it is 7.2m^3 and for R it is 12 m^3.
They all need 2.4 hr(from calculation) i.e 2 hr 24 minutes more ... adding that to 10.30 we have 12.54 when the tank will be completely full..

ans is 4.5 hr
in 1st 1/2 hr 1m3 is filled
thn in next 1 hr 5m3 is filled
in next 2 hr 20 m3 is filled
thn in nxt 1 hr totally in 4.5 hr all 30 m3 i.e 5*3*2=30m3 of volume is filled

A group of 50 salesmen plan to achieve their target for the next 30 days by working 12 hours a day. Due to various reasons they put in only 10 hours a day for the first 15 days. Now, if 10 men leave and the rest continue working for only 10 hours a day, how many days more than the initially estimated time will they require to meet their target?

11 1/4

Total planned man hour=50*30*12=18000
With 50 mem, 10 hrs. daily for 15 days, total man hours completed=50*10*15=7500
Remaining man hour =18000 - 7500=10500 , which is to be completed by 40 men working 10 hrs. daily, So days required to complete the remaining work=10500/(40*10)=26.25
As total time taken to complete the work=15+26.25=41.25, which is 11.25 days more than the estimated time of 30 days

Total estimated unit of work= 50*30*12= 18000
for first 15days unit of work will be= 50*10*15=7500
for the nest case it would be=40*10*x=400x(where x is the required no of days)
then, 400x+7500=18000
or, x=26.25
total number of days will be=(15+26.25)= 41.25
that is the answer would be= (41.25-30)=11.25

3x y-6
So equation is:
xy=3x(y-6)
on solving we get y=9
Therefore number of days=9

v = normal speed
t = normal time
t = x/v
t+2 = 5(x-v)/3v + 1
t+1.333 = 5(x-v-50)/3v + (v+50)/v
x/v + 1 = 5(x-v)/3v
x/v +1.333 = 5(x-v-50)/3v + (v+50)/v
3x+3v = 5x - 5v
2x = 8v
x = 4v
3x+4v=5x-5v-250+3v+150
6v = 2x -100
6v = 8v - 100
2v = 100
v = 50 mph
x = 200 miles

The mean proportional b/w two numbers is 9 and the third proportional of the two numbers is 243. Find the larger of the two numbers.
Reply Like? Yes (1) | No (3)
siva naga kumar   10 years ago
Hi your answer is 27
Let me explain this is how
a,b are numbers
Sqrt(a.b)=9

=> a.b=81
=> a =81/b------>(1)
also.
a,b,243 are in proportion
=> a/b = b/243
=>a(243)=b^2
=>(81/b)(243)=b^2. Using (1)
=>(3^4/b)(3^5)=b^2
=>3^9 =b^3
=>3^3 =b
=>27=b
From ab=81
=>a(27)=81. From b=27
=>a=3
Therefore the numbers are 3,27
Greatest number=27
Like? Yes (7) | No (1)
neha gupta   10 years ago
let the numbers be a and b .
then acc to mean proportion relation is a:9::9:b
and acc to third proportion relation is a:b::b:243
from above we get two equations ab=81
and b^2=a*243
Solving these two we get
a=3
b=27
So larger is 27.

if the price of sugar increases by 25%,so that the man is can able to purchase 5 kg less sugar in rs 500.find the original price of sugar per kg?
Reply Like? Yes (3) | No (1)
Devendra Marghade   10 years ago
20 Rs.

If original price/Kg. of sugar=x then in Rs. 500, quantity can be purchased=500/x
With increase in 25% of price, new quantity purchased=500/[(125/100)*x]
As difference in quantity purchased=5 Kg, So 500/x - 500/[(125/100)*x]=5
On solving, x=20

Reply Like? Yes (2) | No
Neha Shahi   10 years ago
let the no of matches lost be y.....so the no of matches won = y + 3
now, 2( y + 3) + (-1) y = 23
y = 23 - 6 =17

10000 Rs.

If initial cost price=x, selling price @20% profit=(120/100)*x=1.2x
New selling price with Rs. 500 more=1.2x+500
With new selling price profit is 25%, so 1.2x+500= (125/100)*x, x=10000

Q: A sum becomes 6 fold at 5 % per annum. At what rate the sum becomes 12 fold ?

a) 9 % b) 10 c) 11 d) 12
Reply Like? Yes (13) | No (1)
Devendra Marghade   10 years ago
c) 11

For the sum to become 6 fold, its interest should be 5 times the sum. So if sum=x & period=t, then
Calculating simple interest, x *t*5/100 = 5x, t=100
Now for the sum to become 12 fold for t=100 & rate=r,
x*100*r/100=11x, r=11

girth means circumference
so circumference=440cm
2*pie*r=63
r=440*7/22*2=70cm
volume of cylinder=pie*(r^2)*h
here in this case ot will be=pie*((outer radius^2)-(inner radius^2))*h
inner radius=70-4=66cm
=> ((outer radius^2)-(inner radius^2))=70^2-66^2=544
pie*h*544=22*63*544/7=107712 cm^2 ans.

On a given amount the compound intrest for the 1st year is Rs 375 and for the 2nd year is Rs431.25. How much money was invested

for 1st yr
431.25-375=56.25
as we know compound interest is the interest on the interest
so rate of interest=100*56.25/375%=15%
so by the formula PRT/100=375
put R=15%, T=1, find p
P*15*1/100=375
P=375*100/15
P=2500rs is the money invested. ans

Language is remarkable, except under the extreme constraints of mathematics and logic, it never can talk only about what it's supposed to talk about but is always spreading around.
