Mr. Pandit owned 950 gold coins all of which he distributed amongst his three daughters Lalita, Amita and Neeta. Lalita gave 25 gold coins to her husband, Amita donated 15 gold coins and Neeta made jewellery out of 30 gold coins. The new respective ratio of the coins left with them was 20 : 73 : 83. How many gold coins did Amita receive from Mr. Pandit?
Reply Like? Yes (20) | No (9)
Srinivas   10 years ago
380 gold coins

No. of total gold coins left = 950-(25+15+30)=880
total ratio = 880/176 = 5
so Amita ratio = 73 ie., 73*5 =365
Amita have donated 15 coins.. so she got 380 from his father Pandit

if one apple get 25% profit and another apple gets 25% loss then what is the change ..either loss or profit ?
Reply Like? Yes | No
Devendra Marghade   10 years ago
No profit, No loss

Considering the cost prices of each the apples=x, then total cost price=2x
Selling one at 25% profit & another at 25% loss will give total selling price=(125/100)x + (75/100)x=2x
As selling price=cost price, So there is no profit and no loss.

no loss no gain
if the apple cost is 100 each
1st one selling price is 125
and 2nd is 75..
Total gives 200 which is cost price of 2 apples..
so no loss no gain

Q: A is twice as fast as B and B is thrice as fast as C. The journey covered by C in 56 min will be coverd by A in? I NEED COMPLETE SOLUTION PLS HELP ME

a) 5 1/3 min b) 2 1/3 c) 7 1/3 d) 9 1/3
Reply Like? Yes (2) | No
Devendra Marghade   10 years ago
d) 9 1/3

If A, B & C are the time taken to cover the journey, then
Time taken by B=C/3, As A is twice as fast as B, Time taken by A=B/2=C/6
So for the journey time of 56 min. of C, A will take 56/6= 9 1/3 min.

A train passes a station platform in 36 seconds and a man standing on the platform in 20 seconds. If the speed of the train is 54 km/hr, what is the length of the platform?
Reply Like? Yes (2) | No
Devendra Marghade   10 years ago
240 m.

If length of the train=t & platform=p, then
Time(in hr.) to cross platform @54 km/hr =(t+p)/54 =36/3600 or t+p=27/50 ---(i) and
Time(in hr.) to cross a man=t/54= 20/3600, t=54*20/3600=3/10 Km
From (i),length of platform p= (27/50)-t=(27/50)- (3/10)=12/50 Km. or 1000*12/50=240 m.

Speed = 54 x 5 m/sec = 15 m/sec.
18
Length of the train = (15 x 20)m = 300 m.

Let the length of the platform be x metres.

Then, x + 300 = 15
36
x + 300 = 540

x = 240 m.

A company rented a machine for Rs.700/- a month. Five years later the treasurer calculated that if the company had purchased the machine and paid Rs.100/- monthly maintenance charge, the company would have saved
Rs.2000/-. What was the purchase price of the machine?
Reply Like? Yes (4) | No (4)
Rajul Singh Gaur   10 years ago
Let the price of the machine = x rupee
5 year maintenance charge = 100*60 = 6000
so total investment = x+6000
now total rental charges for five year = 700*60 = 42000
so according to given condition 42000-x-6000 = 2000 so x = 34000

Q: Viru and dhoni are running in a race if there speed is in the ratio 5:3 respectively and total distance traveled by them in one round is .5 km . Find the distance traveled by viru when he passes dhoni for the sixth time.
PLEASE SOLVE THIS QUES.... I HAVE WASTED LOTS OF TIME TO SOLVE THIS.
Reply Like? Yes | No
Rajul Singh Gaur   10 years ago
let speed of viru and dhoni are 5x and 3x.
ratio of distance traveled by them= ratio of speed of them =5:3
total distance traveled by both=.5km
so distance traveled by viru in one round= .5*(5/8) =.3125km and distance traveled by dhoni in one round will be .1875 km.
so the length of track =.3125.
time taken by viru to complete one round=.3125/5x
and time taken by dhoni to complete one round=.3125/3x
both will meet after time( LCM of .3125/5x and .3125/3x)=.3125/x
both meet for the sixth time after (.3125/x)*6
so distance traveled bu viru upto 6th meet = (.3125/x)*6*5x =9.375km
Like? Yes (1) | No
siddharth prakash singh   10 years ago
Ans will be 7.5 km.
Let the speed of viru and dhoni be 5x and 3x respectively.
( Since we know that if two or more person starts moving from same pt on the circumference of circle on the same path in the same direction around the circle they will first meet in the lcm of time the fastest runner takes in totally overlapping each other.)
so to find overlapping time we have to find relative speed of both person (as here only two persons are given)
so their relative speed is 2x.
let they will meet after t sec.
so, 2xt=0.5
t=0.25/x
hence viru will overlap dhoni at every 0.25/x unit time.
now distance traveled upto first meeting by viru= 5x*t =1.25 km .
hence viru will cover 1.25*6= 7.5 km when he will cross dhoni 6th time.

the first statement of the ques is v confusing so ignore it
lets begin with the subsequent part of the ques
Like? Yes | No
neha   10 years ago
so.. lets begin
since for 5 strikes time taken is 6 sec and time taken to strike once is negligible
so no. of strikes=5-1=4
so time taken to strike 4 times=6 s
so strike per times=4/6= 1.5 s
similarly, for 9 stirkes time taken =12 s
so time taken per strike= 12/8=1.5 s
so wen it strikes once it takes negligible time.
wen it strikes twice it takes 1.5 s,
wen it strikes thrice it takes 1.5+1,5 s,
wen it strikes 4 times it takes 1.5+1.5+1.5 s
so it forms an AP
so for one rotation i.e. from 12 to 12 i.e. it completes 12 hr strikes
time taken=
@1 @2 @3 @4 ..... @12 back at 1
1.5*0+1.5*1+1.5*2+1.5*3......1.5*11+1.5*0
=>1.5(1+2+..+11)
sum of n terms of an ap=n(n+1)/2
1.5(11*12)/2= 99 secs
so time taken to strike 24 hours =99*2=198 secs. ans

actually the rays wil enter from theh corner and reach d bottom at 2.5 cm (the centre of the bottom)
the rays wil be slant and fall at an angle of 45 degree
since angle of incidence is same as angle of reflection it wil reflect in d same mannern exit from top right corner.
so two right angles are formed
2.5^2+15^2=hypotenuse^2
so total distance =2*(sq root(2.5^2+15^2)) ans.

For signed integer one bit is reserved for sign and the range is -32 to 31 .Option 3 is correct ie 32 can not be represented in this data type.

For n bits, the range of 2’s complement signed integers that are allowed is -2^(n-1) to (2^(n-1))-1.

For your question, you asked the range of 6 bit signed integers, I am assuming you are asking for the range in 2′C format. The answer is -32 to +31 both numbers included. Hence, 32 and 64 both cannot be represented by using 6 bits.

Pritam   5 years ago
2^6 = 64. So you can represent 64 values. This means 0 to 63 for unsigned integer and -32 to 31 for signed integer (twos complement).

If the distance=d and speeds are 3x, 4x and 12x respectively, then

hence t1:t2:t3=d/3:d/4:d/12
lcm of 3,4and 12 is 12 hence multiply by 12 and get answer

Let take length of course is = x m

and suppose that speed of A is = x m/s
than speed of B is = (x-15) m/s
speed of C is = (x-29) m/s

we know that
time = distance / speed

therefore in the next round

time taken by B = time taken by C
distance covered by B / Speed of B = distance covered by C / speed of C
x m/ (x-15) m/s = (x-15) m/ (x-29) m/s __________________________(1)
for solving x=8.46
If we take x as 100 time of x
than x=846 ____________________________________________________Answer

and speed A = 846 m/s
speed B = 831 m/s
speed C = 817 m/s
proved (1).

225 m RATIO IN TERMS OF DISTANCE LET LENGTH OF THE COURSE BE X THEN A:B=X :X-15
A:C=X:X-29 B:C=X:X-15 NOW COMBINING THESE WE GET A:B:C =X: X-15: X-29 THEREFORE (X-15)/X=(X-29)/X-15
HENCE X=225 m

1.You have 3bags each containing two marbles.bag A contain 2 white marbles , bag B contaion 2 black marbles, bag C contains one white marble and one block marble. You pick a random bag and take out one marble.it is a white marble.probability that the remaining marble from the same bag is also white ?

plz give me explanation ? about this probability question??
Reply Like? Yes (6) | No (5)
naveen   10 years ago
1/2
as you picked a white marble it must be A or B
if it is A then the remaining is also white
so favourable outcomes = 1
possible outcomes = 2
probability = 1/2
Like? Yes (7) | No (4)
siddharth prakash singh   10 years ago
probability to choose one bag= 1/3
now since it is given that first selected marble is white thus the selected bag must be either A or B.
now since we have to find the probability that the remaining marble from teh same bag is also white, hence the require bag is bag A.
so now there is only 1 favourable condition. hence req prob = (1/3)*1 = 1/3
