There are no books as such, check the verbal section amcat and elitmus from m4maths.com, u will get some idea about verbal questions and u may also get common or similar type of questions.
Also, Solve Verbal section from indiabix.com.

Hope this may help.

Q. In a box there are 8 red, 7 blue and 6 green balls. One ball is picked up randomly. What is the probablity that it is neither red nor green.

~Sandeep~   10 years ago
Total number of balls =n(T) = (8 + 7 + 6) = 21.
Let E = event that the ball drawn is neither red nor green = event that the ball drawn is blue.
=> n(E) = 7 = Number of blue balls.
Probability = n(e) / n(T) = 7/21 = 1/3

I have rs 50
spend 20 balance 30
spend 15 balance 15
spend 9 balance 6
spend 6 balance 0
total spend amount is 50
if u calculate balance will get 51
Why?
Reply Like? Yes (2126) | No (325)
~Sandeep~   10 years ago
The assumption that sum of amount spent = sum of balances is incorrect.
Assume you have 10 Rs and you spend 1 Rs. each day

Spend 1 Balance 9
Spend 1 Balance 8
Spend 1 Balance 7
Spend 1 Balance 6
Spend 1 Balance 5
Spend 1 Balance 4
Spend 1 Balance 3
Spend 1 Balance 2
Spend 1 Balance 1
-------------------------------
Spend Total = 10, Balance Total = 9+8+7+....+1 = 45
As per question you are trying to say 10 = 45

Hence proved that there is no such rule where sum of balance should be equal to sum of money spend. This question not as per mathematical logic and rules.

yes x^2+y^2 is divisible by 5.
x=7 y=1
x-y= 7-1/5=1 reminder
x+y=7=1/5=3 remainder
so, 7^2+1^2=50/5=10

Two trains move in the same direction at 50 kmph and 32 kmph respectively. A man in the slower train observes the 15 seconds elapse before the faster train completely passes by him. What is the length of faster train?
(a) 100m (b) 75m (c) 120m (d) 50m
Reply Like? Yes (33) | No
jyoti chandra   10 years ago
relative velocity in same direction =18
as a man observes the elapse not the whole train so here only the length of the faster train will be taken
into account not the slower train so here comes the equation 18(5/18)mps* 15=75

use this farmula only for any train releted question
(l*18)/(t*5)=speed
l (lenth) always in meter (add lenth if two lenth of given like train lenth and plateform lenth)
t (time) always in second
speed always in kilometer ( add if two train in going to same direction otherwise subtract)

80% to 90% of question will solve this formula
hope u understand!!
if not solve or any porblem reply..:) :) :)

the last digit must be 5,because the number is divisible by 5.so no of choice=1
the 2nd digit can be selected from remaining 5 numbers.so no of choice=4
the 1st digit can be selected from remaining 4 numbers,because here repitation is not allowed. so no of choice=4

therefore,
total no of choice=4*5*1=20

probability of getting 6 on at least one of the three dice= 1-(probability of getting 6 on none of the three)
Since throwing of three dice is independent event.
hence, 1-( (5/6) * (5/6) * (5/6) ) = 1- (125/216) = 91/216

D. 1120
Non-faulty & Non-defective=1200- %(faulty+defective)
=1200-[(7/(3*100)) + (13/(3*100))]
=1200-1200*(20/300)
=1120
Like? Yes (4) | No (7)
Bharath Kumar   10 years ago
1120

First Faulty Phones=1200*(2 1/3%)==1200*7/3*100=28
Defective phones==1200*13/3*100=52

So total defective and faulty phones are 52+28=80
Therefore non defective and non-faulty phones are 1200-(52+28)=1120

13 41/43 Days
1 day work of Intern+ manager +Senior Manager= (1/15) +(1/25) +(1/40)=(1/5)[(1/3)+(1/5)+(1/8)]
=43/600
So days required to finish the work=600/43 =13 41/43 or 13.9534

A wallet contains 200 notes made up of Rs.100, Rs.50 and Rs.20 notes and their values are in the ratio 1:2:3 then find the values and notes of each type?
Reply Like? Yes | No
Devendra Marghade   10 years ago
1000, 2000, 3000
If number of notes of 100, 50 & 20 are x,y, & z respectively, then
x+y+z= 200 ---(i) &
100x/50y= 1/2 ---(ii) &
50y/20z =2/3 ---(iii)
From (ii) & (iii) y=4x & 15y=4z, Substituting in (i), we get x=10, y=40, z=150
So values of each type of notes are (100*10=1000) , (50*40=2000) & (20*150=3000)

If length(in meters) of the train=x & platform=y, then

Q: A train can travel 50% faster than a car. Both start from point A at the same time and reach point B 75km away from A at the same time. On the way, however the train lost about 12.5min while stopping at the stations. The speed of the car in kmph? I NEED COMPLETE SOLUTION PLS HELP ME

a) 100 b) 110 c) 120 d) 130
Reply Like? Yes | No
Devendra Marghade   10 years ago
c) 120 km/hr
If speed of a car=x km/hr, then speed of a train=(150/100)*x=1.5x km/hr
Time taken(in hour) by a car to cover 75 Km.= 75/x &
Time taken(in hour) by a train to cover 75 Km.= [75/(1.5x)] + (12.5/60)
As both car & train reach at the same time, both these times are same
So, 75/x = [75/(1.5x)] + (12.5/60)
On solving, x=120

If a person walks at 14 km/hr instead of 10 km/hr, he would have walked 20 km more. The actual distance travelled by him is:

A. 50 km B. 56 km
C. 70 km D. 80 km
Reply Like? Yes (4) | No

A. 50 Km.
If time taken =t, then distance covered @14 km/hr=14t and @10 Km/hr= 10t
Given, 14t -10t =20, t=5 hr.
So the actual distance travelled =5*10 =50 Km.

Ans. 100

If 3x, 5x, 6x numbers of notes of 100, 50 & 10 Rs. are there respectively,
[100*3x] + [50*5x] + [10*6x] =12200
610x= 12200
x=20
So number of Rs. 50 note=5*20= 100

1)37 as equal rows and equal column = 37*37 =1369 ;; each row contain 37 students so last row also contain 37 students
Like? Yes (4) | No
Pradeep Singh   10 years ago
answer is 37.. here no of rows and column are equal so number of student in last*number of column =1369
but no of row and column are equal so r=c
r*r=1369
so r=37
