Reply Like? Yes (35) | No (5)
mousumi mohapatra   10 years ago
when the selling price of 2 things are same and one is sold at x% loss and other at x% gain there is always a loss in the transaction given by: r^2/100%
so the answer to your question is 4%.
5*5/100%

the answer to your question is 100/9%
there is a formula to it:
x-y/y*100%
where y is the apparent weight used by dealer
and x is the weight that dealer did not use

IF A COMMISSION OF 20% IS GIVEN ON RETAIL PRICE ,THE PROFIT IS 60%. FIND THE PROFIT % WHEN THE COMMISSION IS INCREASED BY 5 % OF THE RETAIL PRICE ?
Reply Like? Yes (13) | No
Devendra Marghade   10 years ago
50%

If CP=x & Retail price or SP=y
When commission of 20% is given, then SP=y- 0.2y=0.8y, As profit in this case=60%= 1.6x
So when, commission is increased by 5% i.e. 25%, then SP=y-0.25y=0.75y,
So profit= 0.75y*1.6x/0.8y=1.5x =50%

what is the remainder when 7^99 is divided by 2400??anyone know how to solve this?
Reply Like? Yes (3) | No (1)
MAHARAJAN.G   10 years ago
7^1(7)/2400=7
7^2(49)/2400=49
7^3(343)/2400=343
7^4(2401)/2400=1
7^5(remainder of 7^4×7^1=7)/2400=7
Now since after every 4 terms we are getting the same set of remainders that is 7,49,343,1 so we have a cycle of 4 and now we just need to find 99 is which term in the cycle so 99/4=3... So the third term of the cycle is our remainder which is 343

try to solve easy questions first as you can switch to any question but time is limited. for each sections different time is slotted. you will get sufficient time for solving quantitative aptitude(10 ques.- 35 min). Try to concentrate on verbal(40 ques-35 min). If, passage comes tough try solve it in last. For Analytic thinking, practice Syllogism( of higher difficulty).Other questions are normal.

hi rakesh ,can u explain how 6!/3! came?
Like? Yes | No
llamar   10 years ago
first we have to select extra two numbers to form six digits
so, no ways select two numbers from 1,2,3,4 is 4C2=6
no of ways we can arrange six digits in six places is 6! but out of two of the repeated
so 6!/2!
so total no of six digits possible is 6*(6!/2!)=3*720=2160

in first 5 days work done=60*5=300 mandays=1/5 of work ie 20% work done in 5 days
work left=80% and it is done by 1200 mandays.
since 15 days are left to complete the work,so 1200/15=80 men ie he needs 20 men more because 60 men are already working.... :)

total work should be done in 20 days =1200(60*20)
work done by 60 men in first 5 days=300(60*5)= 1/5 of work
now 15 days are lift to complete the work so,1days work=1/15 and 1200 men complete the work =1200/15=80 men so,20 more men are required (i.e 80-60=20)

I am assuming that by couples you meant pairs

No. of ways of selecting 1st pair = 44C2

No. of ways of selecting 2nd pair = 42C2

⋅

⋅

No. of ways of selecting 22nd pair = 2C2

∴ No. of ways of selecting 22 pairs =44C2⋅42C2⋅40C2…2C2

=44⋅432⋅42⋅412…2⋅12

=44!222

But the above also takes into account the order in which pairs are choosen which we do not want.

∴ we need to divide the above by 22! to take care of the permution.

Hence, No. of ways of selecting 22 pairs =44!22!⋅222

Thanks Stev Iones for correcting the error.

how many rectangles can be formed out of a chess board? I need a proper explanation.
Reply Like? Yes | No
abhishek narayan   11 years ago
for a n*m chessboard, there are n+1 lines that form the rows and m+1 lines that form the columns. A rectangle will be bound by two of these rows and two of these columns, so the number of rectangles is given by (n+1C2)*(m+1C2).
as here n=m=8.
so, no. of rectangles = 9c2*9c2=36*36=1296

let total no of vote=x
according to the question candidate who got 40% vote, defeated by 15000 votes
that means(no of votes of winner-no of votes for losser=15000)
((60*x)/100)-(40*x)/100)=15000
after solving we got x=75000

Q. By mixing water a man gains the profit of ((100/9) %). Find the quantity of water mixed by him.
WITH EXPLANATION
Reply Like? Yes (16) | No
Gaurav Sharan   11 years ago
Let cp of milk =c and of water is 0.
sp of mixed milk = c
cp of mixed milk = 0.9c
let qty of water and milk be n1 and n2 respectively.
By rule of allegation,
n1/n2=(c-0.9c)/(0.9c-0)
i.e. n1/n2= 1/9
So, ratio of milk to water is 9:1
Like? Yes (1) | No (5)
yash   10 years ago
Assume the quantity of milk is n1 @ rate of Rs x /unit
and quanity of water is n2
before mixing water the cost price of milk is n1 *x
after mixing water the cost price will be (n1+n2) *x
the profit will be
(n1+n2)*x- n1*x which will be equal to (100/9)%* n1 *x
so n2*X= (1100/9)*1/100*(n1*x)
n2*x=(1/9) n1*x
n2/n1=1/9
so the ratio of water and millk is 1 ratio 9

The grade is actually the slope of the railroad line. So the given slopes are 0.03 and 0.02. Calculate the length required for each slope and subtract the answers to get your final answer which is the additional length of track required. Slope is the change is height over change in length.

1) For a slope of 0.03 and height of 600 m (which is same for both cases), the length required is 30000 m
2) For a slope of 0.02 and height of 600 m, the length required is 20000 m

So 30000-20000= 10000 m, which is your final answer. The answer to the question is "a" 10000 m

n(only R)+n(only G)+n(only W)= n(R) + n(G) +n(W) - 2(two color flowers) )+ 3(three color flowers).
= 0.6x + 0.3x + 0.5x -2(0.4x) + 3*0
=1.4x- 0.8x = 0.6x.
Hence, %(only one color flowers)= 60%

suppose total flowers in the garden=x
given that
n(r)=.6*x
n(g)=.3*x
n(w)=.5*x
n(r g w)=0 (no of flowers has all the three colors)/here space between consecutive no represents intersection
we know that
n(ruguw)=n(r)+n(g)+n(w)-n(r g)-n(g w)-n(r w)+n(r g w)
so,x=(.6+.3+.5)*x-[n(r g)-n(g w)-n(r w)]+0
so,
x[n(r g)-n(g w)-n(r w)]=1.4*x-x=.4*x
now
//formula (only A)=[n(A)-N(A B)-N(B C)+N(A B C)]

[(only r)+(only g)+(only w)]=[n(r)+n(g)+n(w)]-2*x[n(r g)-n(g w)-n(r w)]+3*n(r g w)
=(1.4*x)-2*(.4*x)+(3*0)
so,
[(only r)+(only g)+(only w)] =.6*x
% of [(only r)+(only g)+(only w)]=((.6*x)/x)*100=60% ans.

RAKESH   11 years ago
tin = 4/9 , copper = 5/9
impurity in, tin =4/9 *20% = 8/90 , copper = 5/9 *58% = 29/90
total impurity = (8/90 +29/90) = 37/90

% impurity = 37/90 *100 = 41 % approax

Let the quantity of tin and copper in the alloy be 4x and 5x, respectively.
Then impurity of tin
= 0.2 × 4x = 0.8x.
and that of copper
= 0.58 × 5x= 2.9x
Total impurity=0.8x + 2.9x = 3.7x

Average impurity percentage
= 3.7x/9x × 100% = 41.1%

Let the quantity of alloy be x.
tin impurity = (0.2*4x)/9 and copper impurity=(0.58*5x)/9.
Total % impurity= {(0.8+2.9)/9}*100%=(3.7*100)/9%=41.11%
