a) 5:15 b) 4:30 c) 8:15 d) 7:45

c) 8:15

A & B will type (32/6)+(40/5)=40/3 pages in 1 hour.
So time(in hours) to type 110 pages= 110/(40/3) =33/4 =8.25 hrs. or 8 Hr. 15 min.

Reply Like? Yes (20) | No (4)
~Sandeep~   10 years ago
5 Years Ago Vinay Age = 17 - 5 = 12
5 years ago: Vinay Age= Vikas Age /3 = 12
5 Years Ago: Vikas Age = 12*3 = 36
Hence Vikas Current Age = 36+5 = 41

consider vikas age is x then vinay age is 3x (vinay age was one third of vikas)
now present age of vikas is x+5
now present age of vinay is 3x+5
Given: vinay age is 17 so 3x+5 = 17 ==> x=12/3=4
so, vikas age is x+5 = 4+5 = 9
therefore, vikas age is 9

VINAY AGE BE X
VIKAS AGE BE Y
so x-5= (y-5)/3
3*x-15=y-5
now x=17
3*17-15=y-5
y= 3*17-10
y=51-10
y=41

A wallet contains 200 notes made up of Rs.100, Rs.50 and Rs.20 notes and their values are in the ratio 1:2:3 then find the values and notes of each type?
Reply Like? Yes (18) | No (8)

if values ratio of Rs.100, Rs.50 and Rs.20 notes are 1:2:3 then minimum notes require to fulfill this condition is : rs100:rs200:rs 300 = 1 note of rs.100 : 4 notes of rs.50 :15 notes of rs.20 = total 20 notes and RS.600 .

But here We have 200 notes , so (1* Rs.100 + 4 * Rs.50 + 15 * Rs.20 )*200/20 =RS.6000(Total Amount) and total RS.100 notes= 10 , Total RS.50 notes=40 ,Total RS.20 notes = 150 .

so, 100 rs= 1/20 *200 = 10 notes

40 notes of Rs 50 makes Rs 2000.
150 notes of Rs 20 makes Rs 3000.

Therefore total notes=== 10+40+150=200
Total value of notes====1000+2000+3000=6000

suppose no.of 100 rs notes=x,50rs->y , 20rs.->z
total rs made up from 100rs=100x,simillarly for 50 and 20 i.e. 50y,20z
now compare the ratios 100x/50y=1/2 ==>y=4x
similarly 15y=4z , 15x=z

now x+y+z=200
replace the values of y,z
x+4x+15x=200
x=10
y=40
z=150

no. of 100rs notes=10

Twenty five sets of problems on data interpretation each for the DI section of 25 CATALYST test were prepared by the AMS research team. The DI section of each CATALYST contained 50 questions of which exactly 35 questions were unique, i.e. they had not been used in the DI section of any of the other 24 CTALYSTs. What could be the maximum possible number of questions prepared of the DI sections of all the 25 CATALYSTs put together???
a)1055
b)975
c)1070
d)1100
Reply Like? Yes (14) | No (1)
Ranjit Rana   10 years ago
To maximize number of unique question you have to simultaneously decrease the duplication of the question.
Hit and trial method.

1st 12 catalyst has 50 unique question= 12*50=600

but we can have only at the max 35 unique question per catalyst hence, next 12 catalyst have 35 unique question and 15 duplicated question from 1st 12 catalyst= 35*12=420

As we can only have 35 unique question hence, the last catalyst will have the 35 unique question

ANS : 600+420+35=1055
Like? Yes | No (16)
sushruth   7 years ago
total no. of the unique number of questions-35*25=875so
so we need to make max no. of unique questions from the rest 15 Q of each set
so 12 sets of 15 questions repeated once= 15*12=180, we are left with 15 questions in the last 25th Test these cant be unique as already 35 are unique in the paper so, they are repeated questions second time.

Hence total max unique questions-875+180=1055.

32 & 16 Rs/Kg.
If two quantities are 2x & 3x and Prices be 2y & y respectively, then
Cost Price= (2x*2y) + (3x*y)= 7xy
Selling Price@ 28/Kg =28*5x= 140x
Given, Selling Price= 125% of Cost price or 140x= (125/100)*(7xy), y=16
So the cost of varities are 2y & y =32 & 16 Rs. respectively

1% loss
SP of 1 Kg. =63/12, As 5% gain is made, so Actual cost or CP of 1 Kg=(63/12)*(100/105)=5
Per Kg. price when 50 Kg. is sold for Rs. 247.5= 247.5/50= 4.95
So % loss= (5- 4.95)*100/5 =1

so,1 meter cloth price is x/66.
then,22 meter cloth price are (x/66)*22=x/3.
and let cost price of 66 meters cloth is y.
gain =sp-cp=x-y.
x/3=x-y
so,y=x-x/3=2x/3.
now,gain%=(100*gain)/cp=(100*x/3)/2x/3
so,gain %=(100x/3)*3/2x=50% is answer.

A spaceship on an inter-galactic tour has to transfer some cargo from a base camp to
a station 100 light sec away through an asteroid belt. The ship can carry a maximum of
100 kgs of cargo and, as a result of colliding against the asteroids, every 2 light sec of
travel causes it to lose 1 kg of cargo. There are 300 kgs of cargo available at the base
camp. Find the maximum amount of cargo (in kg) that the ship can transfer to the
station? Assume that the spaceship can store the cargo at any intermediate point along
the way and that stored cargo is not depleted by the asteroids.

given 10 rows , 10 columns.. so square garden . 9 gaps bw 10 trees..9*2=18,18+1+1(for boundaries)=20 m
Like? Yes (2) | No
Jeyadev    10 years ago
It is a square garden so length on all sides is equal.
between tree and wall distance=1 m
so on both sides it will be 2*1m= 2m;
now btw each tree 2 m... total 10 trees ,so 9 gaps hence 9*2 m= 18 m.
totalling 18+2=20 m

I walked into a shop with Rs.240 in my wallet and came out with a book, a pen and some chocolates and noticed that only Rs.40 left in my wallet.
I remembered the total amount spent on chocolates was 20 less than that of amount spent on book and pen, cost of pen was 30 more than that of book.
Can any one of you guess how much i spent on each item?
Reply Like? Yes | No
Santosh Kumar Behera   10 years ago
Remaining money= 240-40=200
Lets assume cost of book is X then cost of pen is X+30
Now money spent on chocolate is (X+X+30)-20=2X+10
Solving these
(X+X+30)+(2X+10)=200
=>X=40
So cost of book is 40 ,Cost of pen is 70 and cost of chocolates is 90
Like? Yes (4) | No
Jeyadev    10 years ago
(x+y+z)=200; where x -> cost of notebook y -> cost of pen and z -> cost of choc
from given details,
(x+(x+30)+(x+(30+x)-20)=200;
4x+40=200;
x=40;
so cost of note book = x=40;
cost of pen = y=x+30=70;
cost of choc = z=x+y-20=40+70-20=90;

How many small cuboids of dimension 2m X 3m x 4 m can be accommodated in a cube of side 22 m?
a) 160
b) 385
c) 420
d) 464
Reply Like? Yes (22) | No
NANGINEDI RAVITEJA   10 years ago
option b is the correct answer i think.because,
for given 22m let us take 2m as length,then we get 11 such type of cubes in x direction,then take 3m as height then we get 7 such cubes in y direction(because 7*3=21). in z direction with 4m as breadth we get 5 such cubes (5*4=20). so we have total number of cubes as
11*7*5=385.

GURUPRASADH   9 years ago
I think option C (420) is the correct answer.
Because, the volume of the cube of side 22m is 10468 m^3.
The Volume of the cuboids of dimension 2m*3m*4m is 24 m^3
When both volumes are divided 10468/24=443.6667 cuboids which is the maximum limit. The number of cuboids the cube can accomodate cannot be greater than 443. The nearest option lesser than 443 is 420

5 km/hr.

If Speed(in Km/Hr.) of the Stream or water current=x & boat=y, then
Total upstream speed=y-x & downstram speed=y+x
1st Condition: [40/(y-x)] +[90/(y+x)]= 5 or 130y-50x= 5(y-x)(y+x) ----(i) &
2nd Condition:[60/(y-x)] +[60/(y+x)] =5 or 120y=5(y-x)(y+x) ----(ii)
Comparing (i) & (ii), y=5x
Substituting value of y=5x in (i), x=5 , y=25

The speed of water current is 5 km/hr.
Explanation:
Let speed of boat in still water be b km/hr & speed of water current be w km/hr;
Since s=d/t; => t=d/s
(40/(b-w)+90/(b+w))=5;______(Eq.1) (60/(b-w)+60/(b+w))=5;_________(Eq.2)
on solving Eq.1 & Eq.2 we get b=5w and then substitute this in any one of the above eqn we get w=5 km/hr

4 flowers which are always together can be considered as one SET,

Therefore we have to arrange one SET ( 4 flowers ) and 4 other flowers into a garland.

Which means, 5 things to be arranged in a garland.

(5-1)!

And the SET of flowers can arrange themselves within each other in 4! ways.

Therefore

(5-1)!*(4!)

But, Garland, looked from front or behind does not matter. Therefore the clockwise and anti clockwise observation does not make difference.

Therefore

(5-1)! * (4!)/ 2

= 288.

since he loses 12 1/25 so he will be left with X-12 1/2 % 0f x

now spending 70% of it mean....7x/8-70%of 7x/8

Per section before joining= 24
No. Of sections before joining = 13
Then total no. Of students before joining = 24*13=312
No. Of sections added after joining = 13+3=16
No. Of students per section after joining = 21
Then total no. Of students after joining= 16 * 21=336
So, total no. Of students joined = 336-312=24

This question can be solved with the help of alligation.
Some part is sold at a loss of 5% hence it is written as -5%.
In other their is neither loss nor profit hence other is 0.
Now he has an overall loss of 3% hence resultant is -3%.
-5 0
/
-3
/
(0 - (-3)) (-3 - (-5))

So ratio of selling is 3:2.
Part he sold at cost price is 2_ * 40 = 16 KG

Let some units be 100
30% on 100 gives 70
20% 0n 70 gives 56
10% on 56 gives 50.4
So, single discount is 50.4%

AN ARTICLE IS SOLD AT A CERTAIN PRICE .BY SELLING IT AT 2/3 OF THAT PRICE ONE LOSSES 10 %. THE GAIN PERCENT AT ORIGINAL PRICE IS ?

Let the original selling price be : x and the new selling price is : (2/3) of x = 2x/3
we know CP=(100/(100-Loss))*SP
Where SP is Selling Price. here, Loss = 10% and SP = 2x/3
Now CP=(100/90)*(2X/3)=20X/27 This is the Cost Price for that article.
Selling Price is : x
Gain = Cost Price - Selling Price
=X-20X/27=7X/27
Now Gain%= (7x/27)/(20x/27)= 35%

let cp=x and sp=y
(2y/3)+x/10=x
y=(27/20)x
now gain %=((y-x)/x)*100
putting the value of y
we will get gain % =35

10% loss means the cost price is 10 and sp is 9
But 9 is equals to 2/3
Hence the original selling price be 9×3/2 =13.5
Now the cp is 10 and sp is 13.5
Hence profit is 3.5
Profit percentage is 3.5/10×100= 35%

Let the cost price is x
5% gain = (100+5)/100
5% loss = = (100-5)/100
(105/100)x - (95/100) x = 15
=>X=150

Let costprice be x
5% gain means selling price=1.05x
5%loss means Selling price is 0.95x
1.05x-0.95x=15
x=150

A REDUCTION OF 25 % IN THE PRICE OF EGGS WILL ENABLE ONE TO BUY 4 DOZEN MORE EGGS FOR RS. 96.WHAT IS THE PRICE PER DOZEN ?
Reply Like? Yes (31) | No (5)
rajesh reddy   10 years ago
ans. 8rs
let the price be X
after 25% reduction,price = (X- X/4) = 3X/4=96
=> X=128
one can buy four more dozens with that 25% reduced amount which is 128 - 96 =32

4 dozens in 32 rs ==> 8Rs per dozen

Let x be the price of 1 dozen eggs and y be the no of dozens
initially, xy=96
after 25% reduction, price=3/4x
96=(3/4x)(y+4)
y=12
x=96/y
x=8rs
