Ten taps are used to fill a tank and the time taken is 30min. If four of those used for outlet, then find out the time taken to fill the tank?
Reply Like? Yes (1) | No
surya   11 years ago
from 10 taps four are used for outlet then six for filling the tank
from these 6, four taps filling is neutral to four outlet
finally only two taps are for filling the tank so it takes 150 min

a) 83 b) 69 c) 79
Reply Like? Yes (41) | No (9)
SUBHASH TULSYAN   11 years ago
bro i think the last term of the question is incorrect
i hv explained it as follows:
9=(9*2^0)+(2^1-(2+0))
19=(9*2^1)+(2^2-(2+1))
40=(9*2^2)+(2^3-(2+2))
83=(9*2^3)+(2^4-(2+3)) & so on
so its n term will be
n=(9*2^(n-1))+(2^n-(2+(n-1)))

distance travelled be d
then eqn formed
d/40=t+11/60....(1)
d/50=t+6/60......(2)

u will get the value of d & t
then put it on
s=d/t......(3)

distance is 50/3 km
with 40kmph speed it takes 25 min

why it is 21+61??
Like? Yes | No
Chirag Ranjan Lahiri   11 years ago
its a rule, since last digit of 1141 is 1, so 1 ^ something will be 1, hence last digit of 1141 ^ 3843 will be 1. Now 2nd last digit will be 4 * 3 = 12, so it is 2, thus last 2 digit of the 1st number will be 21, same procedure follows for the 2nd case also...
Like? Yes | No
SUBHASH TULSYAN   11 years ago
1^(anything)=1
& 4(digit at tens place of 1141)*3(digit of 3843)=12
Hence last two digit of 1141^3843=21
now
6(digit at tens place of 1961)*1=6
last two digits of (1961^4181)=61
so Ans is 21+61=82

so

total amnt before shopping is 16$

16$+1$( in tip )=17$ =amount spent in resturant ..

-1,0 or 2 in box1 and -A in box 2, A,(A-1),(A+1) in box3 get A(A-1)(A-1)A in box-2 and in 3 steps,Use all operations(-,+,/,*).
Rules:-
1. you can do addition or multiplication of any two box values and can store result in any box.
2.for subtraction if you do box n-box m (n and m can be 1 or 2 or 3) then result must be store in box n.
3. for division ignore the remainder and if you do box n/box m then result must be store in box n (n and m can be 1 or 2 or 3).

U have to guess the value of alphabets keeping in mind each alphabet corresponds to only one digit and addition of two digits for example D+E will generate maximum of carry 1 because max value of D and E ca be 9+8 =17 which generates carry 1. So from SEND + MORE= Money , u can be sure that M=1, similarly by u can find others but with the help of trial and error method.

let present age of ajay s x,
and vijay s y
then
x:y=3:4 (eqn 1)
then after 5 years
ratio s-
x+5/y+5=4/5 (eqn 2)
by solvng eqn 1 and 2
we get x=15
y=20
hence the age of vijay is 20 years

A car is travelling at a uniform speed
The driver sees a milestone showing a 2 digit num
After travellingfor an hour the driver sees another milestone with THE SAME DIGITS IN REVERSE ORDER
AFTER ANOTHER HOUR THE DRIVER SEES ANOTHER MILESTONE CONTAINING THE SAME TWO DIGITS
WHAT IS THE AVERAGE SPEED OF THE DRIVER?
Reply Like? Yes | No
manish kumar sharma   11 years ago
the first milestone seen by the driver is 2 digited. let it be ... 10x + y ..(1)
After 1 hr
the second milestone is in reversed order. it must be ... 10y + x ....(2)
again after 1 Hr
the third milestone having same digit bt their is zero btween the to digitsit is given as ... 100x + 0*10 + y = 100x + y ....(3)
from eqn 2 and 3, we get
{(100x + y) - (10y + x)}/1 = speed of the car .... {Distance = speed * time}
therefore speed of the car = 99x - 9y .. (4)
from 1 1nd 2 ,we get
9y - 9x = speed of the car ....(5)
from eqn 4 and 5,we get
9y - 9x = 99x - 9y
or y - x = 11x - y
or y = 6x ... (6)
substituting this value in the eqns 1 and 2, we get
10x + 6x = 16x (the first milesztone)
10*6x + x = 61x (the second milestone)
Speed of the car = (distance between two milestone)/time
= (61x - 16x)/1
= 45x km/hr
