Let x= side of the regular octagon. By symmetry, each figure cut from the corners must be an isosceles right(45-45-90) triangle,
and all four of them must be congruent. Then the leg of each isosceles triangle must have measure x/sqrt(2)
Then we must have x/sqrt(2)+x+x/sqrt(2)=2 or simplification,
x=2/(1+sqrt(2)) this is one side of octagon.
Area of octagon = 2(1+sqrt(2)) a^2, where a is side of octagon,
area of octagon = 2(1+1.414)(2/(1+sqrt(2)))^2 =3.31 cm^2

There are 14 digits of credit card number to be filled. Each of the below three boxes contains continuous digits of 18 as sum. Given: 4th digit is 7 and 7th digits of x. Then what is the value of x?
a. 1 b. 7 c. 4 d. 2
Reply Like? Yes | No
Nivedhidha   10 years ago
7 is the fourth digit
let the 5th digit be a
and 6th digit be b
And then the 7th digit is x as given
then 7+a+b=18
a+b=18-7=11
a+b+x=18
11+x=18
x=18-11=7
Therefore, 7 is the value for x.

Reply Like? Yes | No
Anurag Dwivedi   11 years ago
32^32^32/7
32/7 remndr= 4
so. 4^32^32/7
((4^4)^8)^32/7
((256)^8)^32/7
256/7 remndr is 4
so again
(4^8)^32/7
(65536)^32/7
65536/7 is giving the rmndr as 2
2^32/7
i.e (4^16)/7
(4^4)^4/7
((256)^4)/7
In 256/7 remndr is 4
(4^4)/7
i.e (256)/7 so finally remainder is 4
Like? Yes (2) | No
Vijay Menaria   11 years ago
(10^10)/7
rem=((7+3)^10)/7
rem=3^10/7
rem=(3^2)^5/7
rem=9^5/7
rem=2^5/7
rem=256/7

rem=4

10^100/7
(10^10)^10/7
as above we solved 10^10/7 rem =4 using it
rem=10^100/7
rem=4^10/7
rem=(4^2)^5/7
rem=(16)^5/7
rem=2^5/7
rem=32/7

rem=4

rem= 10^1000
rem=(10^100)^10/7
using 10^100/7 rem= 4
rem=4^10/7 using 4^10/7
rem=4

similarly all terms will give rem= 4
by taking sum of all rem= 4+4+4+4+4+4+4+4+4+4=40
40/7
finally remainder= 5

Q: A rope makes 140 rounds of the circumference of a cylinder, the radius of whose base is 14cm. How many times can the same rope go round a cylinder with radius 20cm? I NEED COMPLETE SOLUTION PLS HELP ME

a) 28 b) 98 c) 116 d) none

It is making 140 rounds of the crcmfrnce so length of the rope will be= 140 * 2*pi*r ------>here (r=14 cm)
l= 140*14*2*pi....................eqtn 1
Now when radius is 20 cm.. so Suppose round is X
l= X*2*pi*r---------------> here(r=20 cm)
l= X*20*2*pi ................. eqtn 2
Nw equate both equation
X= 98

Q: The marked price of an object is rs 1920. The shopkeeper allows a discount of 10% and gains 8%. If no discount is allowed his gain percent would be? I NEED COMPLETE SOLUTION PLS HELP ME

a) 18% b) 20% c) 22.5% d) none

Murali Tekumatla   11 years ago
Marked price =1920
discount =10%
so SP = 1920-10% of 1920
= 1728

gain is 8% then CP=
1728*(100/108)=1600
CP = 1600, SP=1920(at no discount)
then gain %is ( 320/1600)*100=20%

option b is correct

M.p=1920rs and discount=10%
so 10% of 1920 is 1728 i.e. sp=1728rs
gains 8% so cp= sp*100/(100+gain%)
1728*(100/100+8)=1600
At no discount...
sp=1920,cp=1600
diff between sp and cp is 320
the formula is (sp-cp/cp)*100=( 320/1600)*100=20%
so anser is OPTION B

logic of the Question is in this that he can be out of the game as soon as he gets 5 Rs and a maximum of 3 loses are allowed

for 0 lose
we have number of ways until he gets point 5 and is out of the game as 3!/3!=1

for 1 lose
number of ways are =4!/3!=4

for 2 lose it is
number of ways are =6!/4!=15

for 3 lose it is
number of ways are =46

so total ways are 1+46+15+4=66

There are a number of chocolates in a bag. If they were
to be equally divided among 14 children, there are 10
chocolates left. If they were to be equally divided among 15
children, there are 8 chocolates left. Obviously, this can be
satisfied if any multiple of 210 chocolates are added to the
bag. What is the remainder when the minimum feasible
number of chocolates in the bag is divided by 9?
a. 2
b. 5
c. 4
d. 6

The 1st set has 10 terms and, 2nd has 20 and 3rd is 30.
The number of terms is AP. Find out the set in which 2269 occurs.
It is present in 21 st row, which will have 210 terms.
(21-1s, 42-2s, 63-3s, 84-4s)
at the end of 21 rows, total number of terms is 2310.
So from 2237-2310th term it will be 4.
So 2269th term will be 4

A hare and a tortoise have a race along a circle of 100 yards diameter. The tortoise goes in one direction and the hare in the other. The hare starts after the tortoise has covered 1/5 of its distance and that too leisurely. The hare and tortoise meet when the hare has covered only 1/8 of the distance. By what factor should the hare increase its speed so as to tie the race? a. 8
37.80

dhanaseelan   11 years ago
Let the diameter D, speed of the Tortoise and Hare are S1, S2 respectively
Tortoise completed (1/5)th (i.e 8/40) of distance before Hare start.
when Hare starts race the remaining distance for Hare is D and for Tortoise is (32/40)D.
when they meet the distance travelled by the Hare is (5/40)D, and the distance travelled by the Hare is ((32-5)/40)
the time is equal.
so ((27D/40)/S1)=((5D/40)/S2)
S1/S2=27/5
now the remaining distance for Tortoise is (5/40)D, for hare (35/40)D
to tie up the race they have to cross the remaining distance in same time.
the new speed of the Hare is S3
so ((5D/40)/S1)=((53D/40)/S3)==> S3=S1*7==> S3=(S2*27/5)*7==>37.8*S2
So the Hare have to increase its speed by 37.80 times.
ans is 37.80

if there are three baskets full of fruits such as apples,oranges and mixture of both...and always the labelling of the basket is incorrect(i.e, if it is labelled as apples it need not be apples alone it might be a mixture)the task is to pick a single fruit from a basket...and correct the labels...
Reply Like? Yes | No
dhanaseelan   11 years ago
Take the fruit from the basket labeled mixture. Sure this basket is not mixture bcz labelled as mixture. So which fruit u r getting from the basket , is filled in the basket
for example if it is orange , that basket contains orange ly. label it as orange.
now consider the basket labeled apple, sure it ll not contain apple, so it must be mixture,another one basket is apple

put G=7 in the last equation

work done per month= 1/21
work destroyed per month= 1/28

for first 2 months,
work done = 1/21 - 1/28 = 1/84.

so, 1/84th work is done in months= 2
full work is done in months= 2/(1/84) = 2*84= 168 months

so, 1/84th work is done in months= 2
