4 Kg.

If 'x' kg. of sugar worth Rs 3.60/Kg is mixed with 8 Kg. of sugar worth Rs 4.20/Kg, then
(x*3.6+8*4.2)/(x+8) =4.4*(100/110)
On solving, x=4

Letbfor 1st case: CP be 100 n after 20% profit Sp become 120

For 2nd case let CP for 1000 g be 100 but due to stealing in weight... 800g costs 100... so if he wud have sold 1000g then hw wud get (100/800)*1000=125

3rd case: let sp of 1000g pure matter be 100 tgen after addition of 20 % impurity it becomes 1240g... now agn we have to find the new sp.. it becomes 124

Then for last case:

Let 1000g costs 100 then after 10% reducn in weight... the new weightbwud be 900 which he will sell at 10% profit I.e 110

So for 10p0 g he will earn (110/900)*100=122.22 so now u can arrange

I think E shud be replaced by X... cuz A, C, E lie on odd position of alphabets... since in the word PROTECTION we have 4 different letters which lie at odd paces (O is taken once as it has been repeated) so we get C, E, I, O of tge given word lging at odd places... so O is replaced by Z ; I is replaced by Y and E by X... may be... :-)

units place it can be selected in 9 ways (i.e 0,1,3,4,5,6,7,8,9)
tens place it can be selected in 9 ways (i.e 0,1,3,4,5,6,7,8,9)

thousands place can be selected in 8 ways (i.e 1,3,4,5,6,7,8,9) here '0' can not be taken
total number of numbers not having digit 2 in it =9*9*9*8 =5832

In a rare coin collection, there is one gold coin for every three non-gold coins. 10 more gold coins are added to the collection and the ratio of gold coins to non-gold coins would be 1 : 2. Based on the information, the total number of coins in the collection now becomes

A.90
B.80
C.60
D.50
Reply Like? Yes | No
~Sandeep~   11 years ago
Answer = 90
Solution:
Assuming number of gold coins = x
As per the question if gold coins = x then non gold coins = 3x
If 10 more gold coins are added number of gold coins = x+10
Number of non gold coins would still be = 3x

As per the given information in question: (x+10)/3x = 1/2
Solving we get
=> 2x+20 = 3x
x = 20
Total Coins Initially = x+ 3x = 20+60 =80
Total Coins Now = x+10+3x = 90
Like? Yes (2) | No
SWARNA   11 years ago
Ans is A.90
Ratio in Beginning=x:3x; Ratio after adding coins =y:2y
x+10:3x=y:2y
Equating we get x, y
Y=30 so,
Total No of Coins=Y+2y=90

There is a game between A and B.there are 100 sticks..one can maximum take 6 sticks and atleast 1 sticks.the person who take the stick finally consider as a winner.if A starts a game ,is there any winning chance for A,if yes what is that??
Reply Like? Yes (4) | No
Pooja modi   11 years ago
Yes A has a chance to win by applying following logic.
IfA starts the game he needs to choose max + min no. Of coins I.e.7
Later on after every chance of B ,A needs to choose (max + min -N no. Of coins where N = no.of coins chosen by B.
By this way A can probably win.

I think time is a major concern for every next maths student.for this there are many reasons.
First of all I will say practice matters.by coming across different problems and their logics one can increase their speed.
And secondly one should be fast with their calculations and applying shortcuts .

A cistern has a leak that can empty it in 8hr.An inlet pipe with a capaciity of 60 litres per hour is turned on.When the leak and inlet tap are turned on,the cistern filled with water is emptied in 12 hrs.What is the capacity of the cistern?
Reply Like? Yes | No
~Sandeep~   11 years ago
As per the question
Capacity of cistern + Amount of water added by inlet in 12 hours - Amount of water removed by leak =0
Assuming capacity of cistern = x

x + 60*12 - (x/8)*12 = 0
Solving we 0.5x = 720
x = 1440

@Sasikumar... I dont understand the question... I think the the problem is about remainder or something else... Bcozzz the value of 4^61 ll be very big... We cant calculate that...
4^61 + 4^62 + 4^63 + 4^64
Take 4^61 common outside
4^61(1 + 4^1 + 4^2 + 4^3)
4^61 (1 + 4 + 16 + 64)
4^61 * 85

12.5% profit

If CP=100 & Weight=100,then at SP=100 =No profit No loss
When,Price=100 & Weight=80, then Profit% =100*(100/80)-100= 25
When,Price=90 & Weight=80, then Profit%=90*(125/100)-100= 12.5

SWARNA   11 years ago
Suppose CP=100 rs, wt=100 then value of his merchandise=100*100=10000
After selling the value he retains= 80*90+20*100=7200+2000=9200
So the value decreases after selling the product Hence loss of 8%

A man pays off 3/20th of his debt every month. At the end of 6 months his balance debt is 290rs. How much debt (rs) has he cleared off every month?

a) 500 b )450 c) 435 d) 400
Reply Like? Yes | No
Saraswathy   11 years ago
Let x be the total amount he has to pay
3/20 of x is => 3x/20
For 6 months he might have paid 6*(3x/20) = 9x/10
Balance debt => x - 9x/10 = 290
x = 2900
Every month he cleared 2900*3/20 = 435

13 chairs and 5 tables were bought for 8280rs. If the avg cost of the table will be 1227rs what is the avg cost of a chair?
Reply Like? Yes | No
Saraswathy   11 years ago
Let C be the total cost of 13 chairs nd T be the total cost of 5 tables
Then
C + T = 8280
Given Avg. cost of table is 1227
Then T/5 = 1227
T = 1227*5 = 6135
Total cost of 5 tables T = 6135
Now C = 8280 - T
C = 8280 - 6135 = 2145
Total cost of 13 chairs = 2145
Avg. cost of 13 chairs ll be => 2145/13 = 165

Ans : 165

40% of the employees of a certain company are men and 75% of the men earn more than 25000rs per year. If 45% of the companys employees earn more than 25000rs per year. What fraction of the women employed by the company earn 25000rs per year or less?

a) 1/4 b) 3/4 c) 1/3 d) 2/11 I NEED COMPLETE SOLUTION PLS HELP ME
Reply Like? Yes | No
~Sandeep~   11 years ago
Answer: a) 1/4
Reasons:
Assume Total number of Employees in Company = 100
Number of Men = 40, Number of women =60
Number of Men who earn more than 25000 = 75* 40/100 = 30
Number of Total Employee who earn more than 25000 = 45*100/100 = 45
Number of Women who earn more than 25000 = 45-30 = 15
Fraction = 15/60 = 1/4
Like? Yes | No (1)
Harika Punna   11 years ago
I think the answer is 3/4.
Because 15 out of 60 women earn more than 25000, so, 45 women earn 25000 or less than that.
So, answer is 45/60=3/4..
Like? Yes (2) | No

Agree Harika..sorry I didn't realized that we need to find 25000 or less.
Answer should be 3/4

MANU   11 years ago
let total no of employee=100
male=40
female=60
no of employee having earning more than 25000=45
no of men employee having earning more than 25000=75%of 40=30
so no of women employee having earning less than or equalto 25000 is=60-(45-30)=45
so fraction is 45/60==3/4
