You are in the land of logic where there are 3 types of rabbits. Blue rabbits always tell the truth, green

regular hexagon of largest possible side can be cut from an equilateral triangle when
side of hexagon = side of eq. triangle / 3

area of hexagon = 6 * sqrt(3)/4 * (18/3)^2 = 54*sqrt(3)

Q. find the remainder when 54^124 is divided by 17?
a.4
b.5
c.13
d15
Reply Like? Yes (1) | No
Kushagra Tiwari   11 years ago
54 and 17 are co prime.. hence we can use euler's theorem..
16 is the euler no for 17.. hence [(54^16)^7]/17 gives remainder 1
hence we have to find the remainder of 54^12/17 => 3^12/17 => 9^6/17 => 2^18/17 => [4*(2^4)^4]/17=> remainder is 4

To be divisible by 90, number must have '0' at unit place & sum of the digits=9
Therefore x=1, y=0, So x+y=1+0= 1

b) If no. is odd it is tail, if no. is even it is head
c) Toss a die until all the 10 digits appear on top face. And if first no. in the

A toy train produces 10 different sounds when it moves around a circular

toy track of radius 5 m at 10 m per min. However, the toy train is defective

and it now produces only 2 different tunes at random. What are the odds

that the train produces for consecutive music tones of the same type?

a) 1 in 16 B) 1 in 4 c) 1 in 8 d) 1 in 32
Reply Like? Yes | No
Kushagra Tiwari   11 years ago
Initially it produces 10 sounds and the defect came and now it produces only 2 different sounds and consecutively so there are totally 2 sounds and we have to select on sound and the probability is ½ and it produces the same sound concecutively for 2 times so the probability becomes ½*1/2 ie ¼

11. There are two boxes, one containing 10 red balls and the other containing 10 green balls. You
are allowed to move the balls between the boxes so that when you choose a box at random and a
ball at random from the chosen box, the probability of getting a red ball is maximized. This
maximum probability is?
Reply Like? Yes | No
Kushagra Tiwari   11 years ago
the probability for selecting red box is 1/2 but randomly if we select green box, the probability will be 0.
so, total probability for this case is 0.5.

now consider the other case, 9 red balls are transferred to green ball box. now total balls in that box will be 19.

total probability = probability to select 1st box + probability to select 2nd box

= (1/2)*(1C1/1C1)+(1/2)*(9C1/19C1)

= (1/2)*(1+9/19)

= (1/2)*(28/19)

= 14/19

A lady has fine gloves and hats in her closet- 18 blue 32 red and 25 yellow. The lights are out and it is totally dark. inspite of darkness she can make out the difference between a hat and a glove. She takes out an item out of the closet only if she is sure that it is a glove. How many gloves must she take out to make sure that she has a pair of each colour?

Plz explain answer clearly.

It is not given that how many of these items are gloves and how many are hats, if we consider that all the items are gloves then according to my opinion 32+25+2 = 59 gloves, she must take out to make sure she has a pair of each color.

A permutation is often represented by the cycles it has. For example, if we permute the numbers in the natural order to 2 3 1 5 4, this is represented as (1 3 2) (5 4). In this the (132) says that the first number has gone to the position 3, the third number has gone to the position 2, and the second number has gone to position 1, and (5 4) means that the fifth number has gone to position 4 and the fourth number has gone to position 5. The numbers with brackets are to be read cyclically.
If a number has not changed position, it is kept as a single cycle. Thus 5 2 1 3 4 is represented as (1345)(2).
We may apply permutations on itself If we apply the permutation (132)(54) once, we get 2 3 1 5 4. If we apply it again, we get 3 1 2 4 5 , or (1 2 3)(4) (5)
If we consider the permutation of 7 numbers (1457)(263), what is its order (how many times must it be applied before the numbers appear in their original order)?
a. 12
b. 7
c. 7! (factorial of 7)
d. 14

A mans basic pay for 40 hrs. week is rs.200. overnight is paid at 25% above the basic rate. in a certain week he worked overtime and his total was rs. 300. then how many hrs. he worked. " plz provide sln. i m unable to solve."
Reply Like? Yes | No
Devendra Marghade   11 years ago
56 hours

*considering 'overnight' & 'overtime' mentioned here is same then,
Basic pay/hour of week= 200/40 =5 Rs.
Overtime pay/hour=(125/100)*5=25/4 Rs.
If man works for 'x' extra hours in a week & considering all working hours more than 40 as overtime, then
40*5 +(25/4)*x=300 , x=16
So total hours he worked=40+16= 56

the extra money he got=rs.100
200 per 40hr
for 1 hr 200/40=5
25% of 5 =1.25
overtime pay per hr=5+1.25=6.25
overtime hr=100/6.25=16
total hr=40+16=56

Reply Like? Yes | No

ans:4
{
4^(any even number) gives us 6 as unit digit.
Ex: 4*4=16
4*4*4*4=256
4*4*4*4*4*4*4*4=65536
All these numbers leave 4 as the remainder when divided with 6.

325^325/125^n
325^325 = 325*325*325.................325 times
and 125 = 5*5*5
also 325 = 5*5*13 (2 fives)
in 325 times 325 we have 5^(2*325) which we can write in (5^3)^216
so the answer is 216

explain anyone this term-- we have 5^(2*325) which we can write in (5^3)^216
Reply Like? Yes | No
Dikesh Kumar Gumansingh   11 years ago
5^(2*325)=5^650
(5^3)^216=5^648
but if we put 217 instead of 216...it'll be 651>650
so we took 650
*I really don't understand the qus. but I think the ans. is what U seek has nothing to do with it

Explain this answer.

perimeter of triangle=25+11+31=67
now,perimeter of square=4a=67
therefore a=16.75

length of rope=perimeterof triangle=25+11+31=67
side of square=67/4=16.75
area=16.75^2=280.5625
ans:A
Like? Yes (1) | No
Abhishek Tiwari   11 years ago
perimeter of the triangle is : 25+11+31= 67
perimeter of the square is : 4*side which will be equal to perimeter of the triangle
so, 4*side=67
=> side=16.75
since the area of the square will be : side*side
=> 16.75*16.75 = 280.5625
i.e. option (A) is correct

i think , there is no general method for these qns
for some qns u can find it

How many positive integers less than 10,000 are there in which the sum of the digits equals 5?
Reply Like? Yes | No
Anand Dwivedi   11 years ago
I believe the answer to be C: 56.

Basically, the question asks how many 4 digit numbers (including those in the form 0XXX, 00XX, and 000X) have digits which add up to 5. Think about the question this way: we know that there is a total of 5 to be spread among the 4 digits, we just have to determine the number of ways it can be spread.

Let X represent a sum of 1, and | represent a seperator between two digits. As a result, we will have 5 X's (digits add up to the 5), and 3 |'s (3 digit seperators).

So, for example:

XX|X|X|X = 2111
||XXX|XX = 0032

etc.

There are 8C3 ways to determine where to place the separators. Hence, the answer is 8C3 = 56.

let x article examine.
then defective article is x*0.08%
a/q ... x*0.08%=2
x=20000/2=2500(a)
Like? Yes (2) | No
Abhishek Tiwari   11 years ago
let the total articles be : x
now, 0.08% of X be 2
i.e. (0.08/100)*X=2
i.e. x=200/0.08
which is 2500
hence (a) is correct

3rd proportional of 12 and 30 is
12 : 30 = 30 : x
x=75
mean proportional of 9 and 25 is sqrt (9*25) ie 15
ratio = 75 : 15 i.e., 5 : 1

.A girl entered a store and bought x flowers for y dollars (x and y are
integers). When she was about to leave, the clerk said,If you buy 10 more
flowers I will give you all for $2, and you will save 80 cents a dozenâ€.
The values of x and y are:
A. (15,1)
B. (10,1)
C. (5,1)
D. Cannot be determined from the given information
Reply Like? Yes (1) | No
Dikesh Kumar Gumansingh   11 years ago
answer is: c
exp:

option1--Put the options 15 >10 so 10 for $1 instead 15 is loss ...ignored
option 2---10 for $1 and 10 for $1 is no discount so ignored
option 3---5 for $1 so 15 for $3
but the clerk'll take $2
so profit $1..................(1)
for 12 flowers profit should be $0.8
so,for 15,$1.......................................................(2)
hence

answer (5,1)

A rectangular room measures 7.5 meters in length and 3 meters in width. The room has a height of 3 meters. A spider sits 25 centimeters down from the ceiling at the middle of one of the short walls. A sleeping fly sits 25 centimeters up from the floor at the middle of the opposite wall. The spider wants to walk (i.e., move along the walls, floor, and ceiling only) to the fly to catch it. How can the spider reach the fly, walking just 10 meters? Is it even possible?

I have a box of one hour fuses. If I set one end of a fuse on fire, I know that the fuse will burn all the way to the other end in EXACTLY one hour. However, the fuses may burn unevenly [ie - it may take 59 minutes to burn the first half of a fuse, but only 1 minute to burn the other half]. Furthermore, all of the fuses may burn unevenly at a different rate. The only thing we know for sure is that each one takes 1 HOUR to burn completely. The Question: Given 2 of these fuses and a lighter, how can I time out 45 minutes precisely?

Two MIT math grads bump into each other while shopping. They haven't seen each other in over 20 years. First grad to the second: "How have you been?"
Second: "Great! I got married and I have three daughters now."
First: "Really? How old are they?"
Second: "Well, the product of their ages is 72, and the sum of their ages is the same as the number on that building over there..."
First: "Right, ok... Oh wait... Hmm, I still don't know."
Second: "Oh sorry, the oldest one just started to play the piano."
First: "Wonderful! My oldest is the same age!"
How old was the first grad’s daughter?

Dikesh Kumar Gumansingh   11 years ago
given three daughters age multipication 72
so possible cases are
1 1 72 addition=74
1 2 36 addition=39
1 3 24 addition=28
1 4 18 addition=23
1 6 12 addition=19
1 8 9 addition=18
2 2 18 addition=22
2 3 12 addition=17
2 4 9 addition=15
2 6 6 addition=14
3 3 8 addition=14
3 4 6 addition=13
and the other man was unable to answer when compared to the building

so he must be confused
as a MIT grad can not be that weak in math

so there are two possible cases 338 and 266 where the sum is 14 ...........

again there can not be twins as hid old daughter bcoz he mentioned to have "the oldest one" in piano phrase so answer is 3 3 8
